Ben,
To be realistic, an M16 or M4 variant would be correct. In reality, pretty much anything would work. I had my son be my "spotter" at a non-AA game once, and he was using my MP5 and that worked out just great.
By the way, you do realize that you and I can be a good sniper team (provided we can actually get together and work on it!)... [:)]

A ghillie for the sniper spotter in airsoft is ineffective.  For airsoft purposes the sniper spotter best role is to flush out and pull in targets of opportunity.  That way, all everyone else will see is the spotter while the sniper never breaks cover.  That is the best technique Mark Anderson and I came up with for airsoft.  Keep in mind spotters that It Is Your Job to eat a bullet for your sniper so long as when you do it they stay in cover.  Mark didn't coin the term "Mexican Body Armor" for nothing, HA!!  Then you respawn near your sniper again, but not in the same spot where you we taken out so as to mask the true location of your sniper.  Depending on the game and how far you are out, it is easier to get taken out, recon on the way back to respawn and come back with better intel than if you were to stay in one spot!  Anyone will attest that I was very obnoxious, loud and talking trash in order to pull in fresh meat for the grinder!  The best tool for the job is ANY AEG that has full auto capabilty and allows you to run around creating confusion.  Have fun kiddies,,,

That is an excellent point, Hector. But a spotter in a ghillie has it's advantages also. I think that the determining factor is the AO itself and what works best for the mission at hand. ie: the amount of natural cover (foliage, etc.). Also, the team itself and how they work tog if he meant he can't get to AA games that are not held in Prescott, or if he meant he can't get to non-AA games (like the Game On games) that are held in the Phoenix area.  Sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

In your opinion, what would be a good AEG for the "spotter" to use on an Airsoft sniper team?  They would of course be using a ghille and provide protection and cover fire when needed, as well as possibly "to follow" shots during the time the sniper (if using a bolt-action) cycles the bolt before a second shot.  I was thinking an M-16 or maybe a carbine, but I have very limited knowledge of AEG's.  If at all possible, please include pictures.  I like pictures.

Just wondering.

Thanks,
