Compression Questions:

Compression has always confused me. I know what a ported piston head does, but whats with the hole in the side of my cylinders? Doesnt having a hole lose compression? Also whats the best type of air nozzle? If I were to get a new cylinder/cylinder head, what types would be a good choice?

basically (this explanation is missing a LOT of minor details), the hole in the cylinder matches the volume of air that your piston/cylinder compress to the amount of air required to push the bb out of the barrel.

The best type of air nozzle is any of the ones that say "airseal nozzle" in the description. They have a small o-ring that fits them around the cylinder head.

new cylinder/cylinder head depends on the type of gun.

Its an ak47. So what setup would get me a really good airseal?
I was thinking a Bravo Cylinder head with double o-rings, Systema ported cylinder, some sort of air seal nozzle, and a Modify aluminum ported piston head.

Would this get me a good airseal?

You are better off having a pro like the guys at gearbox work on your gun, they can make the best of what you have or make suggestions.

Maybe, but I really doubt it. You are mixing multiple brands of parts, which means they will have multiple tolerances. This is bad for airseal. It's generally best to stick with a single brand as much as you can if you aren't going to do any custom modifications.

You've also forgotten lubricant. A good quality silicone grease will help your airseal tremendously.

A truly great airseal can be achieved through using good lubricant, a correctly sized o-ring on the piston head (I don't remember the size off the top of my head... you can search for it on here), and using rtv or silicone (sealant) to seal the cylinder head to the cylinder. Also, an air nozzle that correctly fits the cylinder head (systema nozzles fit most quite well). Then your bucking is the next part of the airseal, along with your hopup unit... don't forget them.

I already have a systema bucking. I do all my own gearbox work so i was looking at a guarder bore up ftk. It comes with a cylinder, cylinder head, bore up air seal nozzle, and a piston head.

Bore up kits give a negligible change over regular bore sets if you aren't running more than a 550mm barrel.

However, a guarder ftk is a great way to approach good-great airseal. Just make sure to lube it right.
