Possible Game?
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:05:28 PM »
Hey guys, I'm new here. Before I get into my ideas, I feel I should let you all know a little something about me as I'm a new poster. I just recently got into Airsoft, so I'm no pro at it. I've done my research so I'm not a complete noob. My name is Ben, and I'm 17. Probably going to do Army or other miltary branch immediately after high school or after some college. Now onto the real thread.

I don't know many people into airsoft, save for one friend of mine and maybe another guy, so I can't really organize a game. I went camping last summer near Sedona and I remember the area being perfect for some airsoft battles and such. I know the temperatures are pretty cool up there even in summer, which is why I'm here. I was wondering if it would be possible to organize an airsoft battle or even an airsoft war up there. The area is excellent. Some mountain and hills, lots of big trees, decent rocks and such. As I said, weather is perfect up there in the summer. I was hoping that by posting here maybe something pretty nice could be started. Preferably 20+ players. We could bring in our own barricades and such(of course take them back out too), decent sized BBQ, camp out, then a whole day of Airsofting with bio-degradable BBs.

I was thinking to make it more interesting there could be a story for it, more or less a setting. Like a decent sized team of private military contractors in a forested Germany attempting to take down some right-wing organization in TDM or CTF. You know something like that.

A week before, we could all pitch in for food, establish a way to identify both teams, and a location. I kind of remember the spot I camped at though I'd have to ask my dad for the exact location. Also, if you have ATVs, then you could even bring it/them. I may bring mine for a nice run.

Games occur in the sedona and prescott area all the time. So I suppose you could call it a good idea.

The way you're trying to set it up is much easier if you have more players and experience in hosting games. Getting a collaborative effort from a wide range of people to set up a single game is always tenacious at best... usually extremely difficult to pull off. It's better to just do all the planning yourself, or with your GROUP of non-playing moderators (this is why it's helpful to have a large group).

If you want to convince people to drive from phx... you're going to need to offer a whole lot in terms of scenario, gameplay, and planning.

I definitely have none of that.  Your advice is appreciated. Thanks. I know and can bet that some of the guys in PHX would like to do something like this. Desert, way too hot for this with all the gear and such. Vanguard is just a CQB field. This just needs more time and planning. With luck I can pull this off or with the much appreciated help of others. I just really want to do a decent sized airsoft battle in the woods.

If you're standing to the right of them they will. The story or setting, I'd still have to work on.
