Thanks to everyone who came out to the final chapter of Operation: West Wing at the MTT Urban Assault Course on Saturday and Sunday.
We had close to 20 participants join us on Saturday for a series of Ranger training missions designed to help prepare the squads for the missions the next day. These started at 10 am and continued until about 4 pm. After a two hour dinner break, participants watched a live fire "contact" demonstration and had the opportunity to fire an AR - 15 or an AK-74. We finished the day with 90 minutes of night missions in the main combat town. The day ended at 11 pm around the camp fire.
On Sunday, players started arriving about 8 am and the safety briefing kicked off at 9:15. Mission 1 started at 10:30 am. Two squads of Rangers conducted recon missions trying to determine the location of SCUD missile platforms. The Rangers observed a number of missile sites being set up south of the main town and set a plan into motion. One team moved west to create a distraction while a smaller team inserted and moved within 50 feet of their objective. The team was repelled by the Fedayeen and Mission 1 ended without the Rangers completing any of their objectives. Mission 1 ended at 11:45 am.
Mision 2 began at 1 pm after an hour break. The mission got off to a rough start as their was "Blind Man" call about 10 minutes into the mission as a player had a tooth broken.
***NOTE: The player was about shot about 75 feet away with an AEG chronoing between 304 - 325 FPS with .25 bb's. The player was not wearing mouth protection. *** After staff got the player off of the field for evaluation, the game was restarted. During mission 2, the Rangers were able to secure 1 SCUD missile site in the small west town. This victory was short lived as the Fedayeen wounded and captured all of the Rangers during the mission.
The final mission forced the Rangers to conduct a rescue attempt of their fellow soldiers from a large school. The Fedayeen were able to repel the attack as the battle came to an end.
