Ok back to this I have finally got some money to start the work. I have started to build a prototype  but I would like to know if I should make mods like short barrel or shorter body or what give me some ideas on what to do. But major note there will be differences between the real m82 and my gun to avoid copyright and get my a$$ sued to the moon and back but it will look alot alike just a few details changed. Will have most of the outer build done by next Monday so I will post pics soon

Instead of thinking about future mods, try to actually just make one first.

Well see I need a few now so I can get past the copy right so like what shape for the holes near the front of the body or something like that. I'm saying this because I have the upper done just no cuts in it yet so looking for ideas.

just copy it exactly and use that as the prototype. If you don't sell it they cant sue. We just want a model made and functioning before we put our down payments on the table. Then we can discuss how to make it look different from a m82. Actually if you go to barret's licensing, they may let you produce it for a small royalty fee. echo 1 has barret licensing, if your hybrid hard kick design is good then echo1 will probably pay you for the design.

Well I was told from someone that because it is a patented desine I can still run into so issues with them because they can pull something that is a big word I don't know but means I have intentions to sell and reproduce without permission. But back to the gun i have almost finished the upper receiver  and will be posting detailed pics. But just as a note this is a prototype so it will be little rough around the edges and will only lookgood when your like 10 feet away (exaggeration  lol) but i will have the AEG  version done soon.

you can copy patented designs as long as you don't sell them. In actuality the patent may be up on the barret, you run into COPYRIGHT issues if your gun bears the likeness of barret's design and you sell it. So the patent issue doesn't pertain. You can also sell parts to make your not a barret look like a barret.  I would also suggest that you make your production sample look the best as possible because you always want to show your best work to potential customers. Knock the burrs off, taking emery to all the flat surfaces, or if you have a lap table use it. Paint is not a big deal but surface finish is. Do you think that you will have a working prototype by the end of the month?

sorry i have been getting hung up alot at my job and have not had alot of time to work on it. i have done some more work but not much since my last update. if any one know of some places i can outsource the sheet metal work to that would be great beacuse i have come to learn the brake (sheet metal bender for those that dont know) is not very stright so my bends keep going off and can get a good body. any help would be great and hey as a cherry on top the first person to give me a name that will give me a good price will get a discount when i finish this gun. and as a fyi to anyone who dose look and needs to know some details for a quote: two pices bent in a otogon shape with about 2 inch sides and one has to be able to overlap the other, must be 3 ft long too. about 10 made and i will suply pre-cut sheet metal.
