Fast Mag Pouches Review?
« on: November 09, 2012, 01:57:39 PM »
I am in the process of upgrading my loadout and was wondering if anyone had a review on these or a similar brand of Fast Mags Pouches. I am sick of using regular pouches and have been curious about these for some time now. I run 9-10 Pmags and was wondering how the Fast Mag Pouches work and hold up. Any input is appreciate!

I like 'em, I've never run one on my vest in a game, but I've tried them out before, and they fit AEG, GBB, and real-steel mags equally well, and seem to hold on quite well too, but give up the mag easily enough when you tug on it. Of course, that was the real-steel, ITW-brand FastMags, so I can't say how good the copies are. I'm torn on whether to get a set for myself or not, but that's just a matter of whether I want hard-shell mag carriers or something that's soft and flexible when empty.

I have 4 single mag ones and absalutely love them.  Reloading with those and ranger plates on my pmags makes it incredibly faster than regular pouch reloads.   I don't know if there are double stack ones of them but id imagin maybe getting 4-6 fast mags and keeping a few backup mags in regular pouches

I run the heavy versions for my G3 mags. I like them a LOT.

The pistol version required some slight customization in order to hold my P226 mags firmly without any threat of losing them though, but now they're great.

A friend of mine uses them and really likes them, he lost one mag in a game but says that was him not putting in the mag all the way. I like them, they are unique looking and in my opinion very attractive and sturdy

I've used a 6x fast mag + magpul configuration for about a year now. I'm definitely able to change mags faster and put more plastic downrange. If you're like me one of your concerns would be retention, especially if you are playing pretty hard and running all over the place. For me the real test would've been a major op, the fast mag + magpul setup worked well for me during this year's LC. There was lots of running and gunning that weekend, but I didn't lose a single mag. I think you will be happy with a fast mag setup.

That is exactly what I was curious about, I am pretty light on my feet and move alot and was wondering how they hold mags. Thanks for the review!!

I can dangle almost 10 lbs upside down off my g3 mag before they'll release from the pouch.

Slight necro post, but related. An alternative i have liked for myself is a blue force gear ten-speed pouches. Instead of the hard plastic it uses an elastic band. I prefer them because they have a lower profile when the magazine is removed, and if price is an issue, around 10 dollars cheaper for a double than a single Fast Mag pouch. They are quite difficult to get in and out when they were first used, and I considered replacing them, but after about a month they broke in and are quite easy to use.
