Interesting...
I'd be up for it if you can actually get that many people to participate.

There's also other elements to consider, such as the fact that some people's guns are more accurate because of upgrades, upgrade speeds, etc.

For example, guys with WA's will have an advantage because their guns are of much higher quality and are supremely accurate.  Even then, a guy with an upgraded WA will be able to traverse a course much faster because his shots will travel faster.

Just a thought.  I like the idea, but I can't pay $50.

How about just doing a montly raffle for a nice AEG instead.  I bet you'd have no problem selling tickets.  Limit it to say 200 tickets at $5 each.  That would net you around $600 to $700 per raffle after expenses.  Even if you did it every 2 or 3 months you'd do well.

That's not a bad idea, John.  I should do that sometime.  Hmmm...

It is said that on the eve of battle, Dienekes was told that the Persian archers were so numerous that, when they fired their volleys, the mass of arrows blocked out the sun.  \"Good,\" Dienekes laughed, \"then we\'ll have our battle in the shade.\"

Keeping in mind, Joey, that there are airsofters OUTSIDE the AA ring...

A few of my thoughts are:

-8 is way too young
-the prizes are nice, but the trophy should be respect!  That would keep costs down and attendance up.
-50 bucks is way too expensive.
-Bart is right regarding the differences in weaponry.  It shouldn't be an issue, though.  I have seen guys with nice AEGs be outshot by guys with GBBs.  Some people just suck!
-Overall, the idea of a shooting comp is great.  I would like to see it include the several facets as described in your post, Mike.

Thanks for the feed back guys.  The official competition information will be made public by May 1.  Hopefully, there will be a few competitors from Airsoft Arizona at the event.

I think it is a great idea and if we could make it on that date I would be more than happy to pay fifty dollars for my son to participate.

Frankly, Mike, I appreciate what you're trying to do and I wish you success.

Feddback for a competition idea
« Reply #10 on: April 24, 2004, 06:50:39 AM »
I am looking for feedback on a tactical shooting competition being designed for late May.  Here is a brief description of the idea.

The competion will take place on May 22 from 6-9 pm at an amazing indoor sports training facility.

Players will compete in a three hour individual shooting competition. The competition consists of five different events for prizes, trophies and possible sponsorship from three different businesses.

Players may register in one of two classes based on age.  Springers Ages 8-14 and AEG/Gas Blowbacks Ages 15+.

The five events test skills in the following areas:
Marksmanship
Move and Shoot Obstacle Course
Judgement and Accuracy
Speed and Accuracy
Tactical Skills

First Place for the AEG/GBB Class is an AEG of the player's choice (up to $369)

First Place for the Springer Class is a Gas Blowback Pistol of the player's choice(up to $150)

Only 25 players will be allowed to register for each category.

Prizes will also be awarded to the top competitor in each of the five events.

Registration for this event would cost $50.  Players would also be required to make a $20 nonrefundable deposit pror to the event.

PLEASE PROVIDE FEEDBACK ABOUT THE IDEA! If you have specific questions about the event, please send me a pm.

Thanks for your help!
