One of the reasons I was drawn to AA (not the 12-step one) was the fact that there was an age restriction. We all know the rules concerning minors at the "official" skirmishes. Even when a minor is participating, they are being sponsored, and therefore, are on their best behavior.
Recently, I have been in contact with several AA member's who feel frustrated because of the number of minors who refuse to play fairly. I presume they are talking about the "unofficial" skrimishes taking place up there. Unfortunately, I have experienced the same thing down here in Tucson....I was recently shot in the face by a 15 year old that I shot several times while they were in a prone position, and then when they took a knee, and then when they turned around......you get the idea. Needless to say, for the rest of the skirmish, I made sure he knew that he was shot.
Unlike other teams in Tucson, SWAIRTAC doesn't allow minors on our team for that very reason. (Actually, our youngest player is just turning 18, but he is very mature and responsible. He's also an Eagle Scout and I've sponsored him up there for AA games) We have also been approached by several prospective members who don't want to "baby sit" minors during skrimishes or worry about poor sports, etc.
I wonder if anyone else feels the same. You have all read the posts "begging" to let some minor noob prove himself to be worthy of AA. We've stopped "sponsoring" skrimishes but may have to start again down here and insist that no minors attend....
