I would guess it wouldn't help.  Why I say that is because the silent piston head works by cushioning the hitting area of the piston head to the cylinder head.  This reduces the sharp pop/crack that most AEGs have when they fire.  The whining noise sounds like the motor/gearing, like an RC car.  I have an M15 as well with the same issue...as well as others :P

Do you have any feeding problems with yours?

My M15 used to be really loud and clanky, sounded rough on the gears.  Scott used a ball bearing grease on my gears after removing that crappy CA gear grease.  Now it sounds smooth and runs much better.  That CA grease tends to ball up and harden after awhile, thats bad for a grease!

Edit: and your not going to make it stealthy.  Why would you want to?  It would suck if everyone had a "silent" gun, I personally love the sound of the rat-a-tat-tat.  Adds a little bit to the sense of realism.

I am not realy trying to make it silent. But rather trying to cut back on the unnecessary noise level. A silent piston and bore up cylider kit helps better with compression and the sharp crack noise which is replaced by more of a thump, and sounds better for your gun. It is realy hard to describe the difference in noise between the two. Nothing wrong with the rat-a-tat-tat realism but I think in the CA that noise is to sharp, and gears to loud. I like the gun sounding more realistic too  but what AR-15 or bushmaster makes a sharp gear noise?lol mine sure doesnt.

well, my friend put a systema silent piston/cylinder head on his M15, and it was really silent after that.  he would nail me and all i would hear was the pop on my BDU's.

I would try regreasing the gears. Because I never heard a difference after I had a silent piston head set put in until I had it regreased.

I have a CA M15 and it only has an upgraded spring(PDI 170) and its fairly quiet for what it is. There is the normal whine of the motor, but for the most part its pretty quiet. I honoestly wouldnt put anything but an upgraded spring, and get an upgraded cylinder.

Question on Classic army m15/ making it stealthy?
« Reply #8 on: September 30, 2004, 12:20:37 AM »
My question is simply this, if one were to put a systema silent piston bore up cylinder kit into a Classic army M15, would it quiet the gun down in order to inhibit the cat strangling noise of the gear box? Sure it would quiet the gun down a little, but would it be worth the money?
Let's all face it the M15a4 is a great gun for the money. But can it realy compair to a Mauri Version II gear box? The M15 has it's other problems to, but this is a realy big one. Has anyone ever put that kit into it and compaired it to something similar? I have an AK-47 with a silent kit in it, and it sounds great. However, an Ak is a compleatly different gun and has different gear box as well.
I am only saying this because I would like to modify my M15 again, yet I dont feel like spending the money if its still going to be inferior, or simply just still sound like Toonses The cat driving off the Cliff!!! I know this will spark some conversation because almost everone owns an M16 varient, many are M15's, and many people like them alot.
