Oakley Desert boots!!!

I was wondering how do the people that own the Oakley Desert boots like them?  8) I have a pair of the black ones, and they are the best pair of boots I have ever owned. I am looking to buy a pair of the Desert when I get the money.  

Because  of Ankle problems, and surguries, I have to wair a good shoe or boot, and so money is not usualy a priority. I was wondering if comfort, and feel is about the same. I cant tell this for myself because whenever I go to the store they never have my size becuase I wair a 13 which means I need a 13-1/2 or largest a 14.

Also I know that in the past there was a deal on the threads, and was wondering if there was a way in which I could save some money getting a pair besides E-bay.    :roll:

I have a pair of the Oakley books in desert tan, but have yet to use them.  I'll give my review when I do, though.  :)

I have apair of the desert boots and I absolutely Love Them.  Great pair of boots, plus right now I am in Japan, it's been snowing here non stop for 3 days and I have been wearing these boots in the snow.  They are very warm, plenty of slush on the ground and my feet are always warm and dry.  Weird since there are holes on the instep for ventilation.  Great traction, rid the packed snow very well and have been soaking wet repeatedly and have not discolored or become stained!  Great pair of boots, pick them up if you have the means!

I agree first time out I got mine muddy and soak n wet, while the whole time my feet stayed dry, great boot for the money well atleast what we got them for.....

On a side note, my wellcos arent waterproofed..But even submerged in 4-5in of water My feet NEVER got wet.

You guys are making me jealous w/ all your expensive boots...  Here I am running around in tennis shoes...

I'll tell you a little secret I've learned from backpacking/ROTC/airsofting/etc. : BEFORE you spend money on gear (Minus eye protection), before you spend money on upgrades, before you even spend money on BDU's, BUY A PAIR OF GOOD BOOTS! I don't mean that harshly in any way. A good pair of boots will save your ankles, toes and feet from alot of twisting, elements, flora, and fauna. Tennis shoes just don't do it. My first pair of boots were the old (relatively) full-leather black military boots. I think I paid $13 for them at a thrift store (I also got my U.S. GI Gortex jacket there for $8!!!!!!). I still have them and still wear them for many events. I just recently bought the Oakley's in topic, haven't received them yet, but I was very willing to lay down the money for something like that (specially the deal I got - Gixser knows what I'm talking about ;) ). Just like eye protection, they protect something that can affect you for the rest of your life. Cheap insurance if you ask me.
