Some AN/PEQ battery issues
« on: May 15, 2005, 01:54:43 PM »
Ok so I have one of those TCD AN/PEQ 2's and It only fits AA size packs(barely fits them even without the plastic shrouds on the pack). Now my problem lies in that I just got a nunchuck pack thats like, sub C or just a bit bigger than A size cells. Can anyone that has had a GAURDER AN/PEQ 2 tell me if it is big enough to house these bigger cells. I know that Raith & Christian have ANGS PEQ's that fit the nunchucks fine, but it seems like there are two sizes of nunchucks, ones with A size cells, and ones with Sub c's. Let me know guys I need to order either a new PEQ unit(mines a POS any ways) or order a 4x2 AA pack.

I have a Guarder model, not ANGS.

The interior dimensions are 18mm X 70MM X 125mm.

My packs are a tight fit.  The cells I have are Sanyo KR-1700AU.  They are the most commonly used NiCd cells for ANPEQ packs and nunchuk packs.  They are bigger than standard alkaline AA cells.  I *think* they are referred to as A size, but I'm not 100% certain.

I'll take some comparison pics of them and a standard AA cell if you want.

OK, I just found this out as well:

The cells in my pack are the same diameter and roughly 1.5 times the length as a 3V Lithium 123A cell used in Surefires.

There is a tiny bit of space around the 123A cell inside the ANPEQ, but after you wrap it with shrink-wrap (like a pack would have) it will be a tight fit.

So your sayng that my short/thick ass fuckin NIMH nunchuck will fit in the gaurder? I just saw it for 55! Which is quite a steal from a stateside retailer and I need a PEQ ASAP.

This is my pack, minus ALL the plastic wrap on the cells..Although the cardboard is still there..

If you get name-brand cells, you won't have any problems.

Cripe, you have a problem with all kinds of sh*t.  Quit trying to find a deal and buy what works!

Get a pack from:
http://www.airsoftplayers.com/gonzo

or any other place that sells similar packs.  Keep in mind, if you can't see the cells, don't buy it!

Hey Im using brand name cells, NIMH's are often in cardboard wrapping...And onlybatterypacks.com has all brand name cells and packs.

Here is a comparison shot of some true A Cells(the black ones)and my new pack. Notice the shorter/fatter cell... SO my question is..Will it fit?

Well I measured my old and new packs, and the new one wouldn't fit the gaurder box if those are the exact interior dimensions at the longest, most wide and tall points, however my old pack would. I guess I will just have to order a KR1700AU pack...

Again, what's wrong with the "old" pack?

I guess its "not putting out enough" but my gun hasn't worked since I got it back from John so I have no idea yet.

You guess?

If it's a NiCd, try deep cycling it.  I've had the same packs since I started airsoft and they work fine.  Of course, they are Sanyo cells! ;)
