Multicam webbing, and mag pouch length.
« on: June 21, 2005, 03:25:33 AM »
Ok, this isn't to show off my gear, but.. rather of what everyone thinks is better. I think they both kick ass, but.. I guess I need a nudge from everyone else to tip me in ANY direction.

I'm working on a total custom rig right now, and I can't make my mind up on one thing..

I have OD webbing, because Eagle was dumb and sent me 50 yards of the wrong webbing.. I ordered their Khaki, because Matts rig that he sold me was downright kickass with that webbing. So, does the OD webbing look ok over the pouches? It sorta sticks out, just a bit. Or, is it worth the BITCHING HARD work and fabric to roll the webbing over it? The webbing rolled in MC does cause one tiny problem, it makes the pouches stiff as a rock. Heres the pic of some of the mag pouches I've experimented with so far..

Also, another thing that comes to my attention. Those mags stick up pretty far for airsoft mags, eh? Well.. about 4 people gave me the idea on the forum to make the mags stick up further, because the real steel mags are about an inch taller, so.. make the pouches an inch shorter, or the mags up an inch more. I've done that with all mine. And, they all have velcro on the inside for TONS of retention options.. they're basically unlimited. But, the point of mentioning the velcro is this..

If I made the mag pouches the same size as real mag pouches,I could make a velcro strap (Like I saw on another forum, not my idea) that extends from one side of the mag pouch to the other side, and boosts the mag up an inch higher..

What's the feedback?!

Edit: And if you mention the webbing on the middle mag pouch fuckup.. I'll kill you.

Edit#2: The OD webbing isn't as pictured.. it looks grey in the pics. I guess you need to see it in person, but it matches pretty well. For those of you that have wasatches (Drag handle), or Eagle gear.. check any OD webbing.. it'll be the same.

Well.. it was a mix of you, Ben and Ian. Ben and ian gave me a few pointers when they were over, and that was one of them.

But maybe you did tell me first..

Who cares whose idea it was.  Everyone takes from everyone in this business, though attribution is always nice.  However, he with the fastest sewing machine often gets the credit.

I am using M. Coyote webbing on my MC South African vest (see the thread).  It works fine.

Oh, by the way, you screwed up on the webbing on that middle pouch. :)

It depends on whether or not the pouches are going to be covered or not.

If they are, it doesn't matter.

If they will be visible MOST of the time, consider this - what's the point of MC if all you can see of it is 1 inch strips from behind solid color webbing.  It may be a royal PITA, but if you want to blend, wrap that sh*t.

Then again, it REALLY doesn't matter.  No one is going to spot you simply by a few inch-wide pieces of nylon.

Well, think about it.. if the webbing is on there, that means.. only 1/2 of what you see is the actual pattern. Now, the Eagle Khaki thread is what I wanted, because it tends to change color, like the Multicam blends into the surroundings. But, Eagle sent me OD. And, the OD also changes, just a bit.. but, the Khaki at times looked brown.. then tan.. then green. And, that's what I might get pretty soon.
