aeg spring in a super 9
« on: July 12, 2005, 01:42:16 PM »
so, i had an idea. my friend has a super 9 pro version 2, the infamous crap sniper rifle for the poor man. i have a stock spring from my ak that i dont use. do you think it would do tremendous damage to the super 9 if i fitted it with the aeg spring? i have a feeling it would. but what do you guys say?

Well, I really don't know anything about the Super 9, except for the crappiness, but, if its anything like my M24 it requires a special spring.  Only problem you might have is that little hook on one end of the stock marui spring, and that will keep it from sitting right.

but you're saying that its possible? i wouldnt mind experimenting a little. i just wanted to know if it would damage the gun a lot before trying it.

The super 9 piston has too small of a bore to accept a sping from an aeg. The super 9 sprng is about 1/2 in diameter, and the AEG spring ias about 5/8 in diameter. But im sure if you bored out the back of the piston to the AEG spring size, it would probably work.

could i just find say...small 1/2 diameter springs and put them in there? and get a metal spring guide or something.  im lost on idea of how to improve this gun.

Try it.

Another way to add power to a springer is by adding spacers.

Aww, the pre-AEG days.  Makes me reminiscent of the ole days . . .

I used to have one of the early S9 models. Use 1/2 inch washers they work real well mine was increased from 290fps to about 340fps. unfortunately thats all the higher you can go with the first version due to the lack of space.

Get enough washers to add up to a 1/2 inch depth and place them in the piston end.

yea so, i took it apart. not only is the aeg spring way too big (diameter wise), the spring rifle spring is actually like 2 inches or so longer. i might just add some small 1/2 springs and a couple of spacers. i've realized just how crappy this gun really is. glad it aint mine.
