Right or wrong I think our soldiers there need to know that at least we don't blame them for what's happening. I really don't think that Bush was all together right for the way it was done, but the soldiers are usually the ones who suffer the indignities when they get home. (remember the Vietnam home comings? I was just old enough that I remember seeing on the news soldiers getting off planes and a bunch of hippies spitting on them. Not really fair is it? After all they were just doing thier job.)

The citizens of Iraq may be complaining now because the US isn't doing their job "anymore"....but as soon as we pull out their country will go down the shitter again

AGAIN???

Its never been anything but a shitter.

It is an unwinable situation, its best to call it aa day, and air bomb the place if they continue to give us problems.

How about, no. Yeah Sometimes I feel like that is a pretty good idea...but then again..there are alot of good, innocent hard working people there that would lose their lives. What If your city or neighborhood became a gang war zone and the government decided it was so bad they were goin to drop a BFB on it?

Sorry about that. I could resist.

But being serious, I agree with 100% Andy. There has to be a fine balance between fighting the enemy and causing callatoral damage. It's really not worth it to go to the extreme. (Except maybe in extreme cases, but lets hope we never get there.)

That is the problem with news teams in the war zone. Ask any American what we were doing in Central America in the 80's and early 90's and they have no idea. Its better that way. In war, people die - civilians, kids, soldiers, anyone. We obliterated hundreds of thousands of CIVILIANS to end Japans fight in WWII. No one cared because no one watched it happen.

As late as 1976 I was getting spat upon and called a baby killer when I walked down the streets of downtown LA in uniform.  And I'll tell ya, the folks doing that kind of thing sure as hell weren't hippies.  They were dirtbag punks.  Any "hippie" or anyone actually approximating hippiedom didn't pull that kind of crap.  They would do something more along the line of handing you a flower, show ya their tits (if female) or try to pass ya a doober.

Someone said something about showing the troops that we support them--AND WE DO NOT BLAME THEM FOR WHAT IS HAPPENING OVER THERE??

Man that is silly, The troops are over there doing shit job in a shit situation. How can you blame them, or say anything bad about them?

I was and still am pissed over the Abu graib thing, I have to belive they were told to do what they did by superiors, and or CIA Staffers. Those who got Courtsmartialled are the one's who got screwed.

As far as supporting the troop's, what better way to say we support you than to remove them from what looks a hell of a lot to me like a no win situation.

The basic mindset there is taught from childhood, and unless we are planning to babysit the Iraqi's/Afghanastanian's, and the other places fpor the next 35-40 years or so--long enough to end the deluded mentallity and over zealous religious upbringing and mindset, then there can never be any chance of a demcratic society of free thinkers. Of course we could always just kill them all, and when the regrowth starts, push them into a new way of thinking. But that too will never happen.

Its just like the Vietnamese--they just didnt posess the ability to think for themselves, that and the nearly stone aged mental powers of some of the "tribes" -Vietnam was a no win situation from the onset.

So let's cut and run! We gotr Saddam-wasnt that the basic goal?
We have the basics of a puppet government in place dont we?
Screw Iraq!

Bring the troops home, if yu really want to support them.

BTW-I have a very good pal who has a kid over there risking his ass, I think about him a lot, and hope he makes it thru OK and in one peice, and is not screwed in the head from all the stupidity he is being exposed to over in precious Iraq!
