Eotech Help
« on: July 22, 2005, 01:37:56 AM »
ok, well, if you have seen my m1 thread.. you know I want to get an Eotech for it. Id like to have nightvision later, so I think the nightvision eotech is the best choice, but whats so different about the night vision ones? Can I not use nightvision with a standard Eotech? How does the night vision option work? If you know, please post. I want to know if I should spend the extra money on the NV version.

Do you actually plan on using night vision?? I cant say I have ever seen anyone use it in a game  except for a large one back in GA a few years back.  I wouldnt stress over it.  Also, if you want to save some cash, the Bushnell HoloSight is the same exact sight, with a cheaper price tag.

www.miragetechnologies.net

Best prices on EOtechs, period.

Now, in answer to your question, the NV version (550 series) has an Infrared projector in addition to the visible red one.  The IR is only visible with NODs on.  It costs more because it has that extra part.

A standard EOtech (510 series) will work with night vision.

But like Rick said, don't fret over it.

Also worth discussing is which model.  Get the AA battery version based on battery life alone.  Some people bitch about N cells, but they are available at any WalMart, drug store or hardware store.  The fact is that N cells simply do not last as long.

The AA version is 512 for std. and 552 for NV compatible.

Stay away from the Bushnells.  For the price you can get one from mirage, theres no need to sacrifice.

I'm calling to buy one right now!

I have the 551(N batteries) and they are supposed to last between 100-200 hours continuous use.  I haven't used it that much yet so I cant confirm that.  But i can say that even though this one has the NV option, I probably won't ever use it.  I got a good deal and that is the only reason I bought this model.  Check ebay before you buy through a retailer, many sellers on there will put them up for well under 300.

Basically, get the 512. AA batteries, longer life, and cheaper.

I sent them an email asking for prices, Thanks Sarge.

I guess ill get the 510 if it works with NV too.

Here is the NV I would like to get, its not all that fancy, but it works great, and its not $10,000 so im alright with it :-D. I saw someone with the same thing at JT, and he let me check it out, I loved it, it was so kick ass.
