Shootout
« on: July 19, 2005, 10:36:37 PM »
Did anyone watch this show? It is on History Channel. It previewed today, at 2100, and the episode was called "D-day: Fallujah". It was essentially about the fight for fallujah, covering some of the action between US Marines and Insurgents. Its a really good show. For those of you who saw it, what did ya think?

Saw the last couple minutes of it.

It seemed intense but interesting.

It should come on again at 1 in the morning so I'm staying up for it.

Just got done watching it.

It's pretty interesting.  I wish they had gone more into the technology aspect but eh, good nevertheless.

I watched it at 1.  Pretty good show.  All true stories and I liked the way they mixed the real photographs in with the actors, and everything seemed pretty accurate (Gear wise and such). I had friends in fallujah at that time, and I really didnt know too much of what was going on (I knew the basics, but not as detailed as they got in the show) and it was nice to be able to get a glimpse into their assault on the city.

Id reccomend the show. Rick

I wasn't very impressed with how the re-enactors made some of the scenarios look.  I don't know how accurate the reenactments were to what really happened, but the way it was portrayed made some of the marines come across as total idiots, with the mistakes of a few getting others killed.  For example, I don't remember the guy's name, but the whole incident with the guy rolling under the window and getting shot in the arm.  Not only did he go in alone, he did nothing about the RPK in the window, and he got his buddy killed.  Overall, some great heroics and some pretty intense looking firefights.

Overall this is a pretty cool show. I'm watching I think is the second episode as I type (Didn't get to see the first one :( ).
My only complaint is when these Marines in Guadicanal (sp?), they are throwing/rolling frag grenades that blow up like artillary shells or incidiary grenades.

I'm watching it now... I think it's well done.  It's going to be done with military consulatants on the set, so... blame them.
