JLS 2012 electric pistol, and other JLS pistols?
« on: October 11, 2005, 12:29:40 PM »

I can't seem to find any information on JLS airsoft guns.  I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask, I thought AEG's would be the place since these guns are electric, even though they are pistols...

Anyone know anything about these guns?

My nephew bought a JLS-2012 for $1 on Ebay.  I warned him it would most likely be garbage for that price.

We got it, and it didn't work.  Nothing but the sound of grinding gears.  I took it apart and found that it was assembled incorrectly.  One of the metal pins that holds the gears was not in its socket.  This caused the teeth of this gear to barely touch the teeth of the other gear.  The grinding broke off most of the teeth in one spot.

Only about half of the thickness of the gear was meshing with the other gear, and that half was damaged.  I was able to trim a bit of plastic on one side of the gear and put shims on the other side, allowing the un-damaged side of the gear to mesh, then the gun worked.

However, even in working condition, the BB's barely leave the barrel.  They bloop out about 1 foot away from the gun onto the ground.

I examined the hop-up device and found that it was very tight and the BB's could barely get past it.  I trimmed it back so it was less restrictive.  I also super-glued an o-ring to the bolt that inserts the BB into the chamber.  I found a stiffer spring in my paintball spring collection.  With these modifications, the gun was now able to shoot farther but still appears to only shoot around 100 FPS or possibly less.

Also, the mechanism that moves the slide for blowback action kept getting pushed out of its slot so the gears wouldn't mesh, then the gun would jam up.  I ended up removing the actuator that cycles the slide.  So, the slide doesn't blow back now, but the gun functions reliably.  Before, if you so much as TOUCHED the slide, it would jam up and the gun would jam.  When it jammed, it would jam with the switch ON so the motor was engaged, so the batteries would sit there draining and getting hot while you tried to frantically remove the slide and un-jam the mechanism!

Overall, this gun is the most crappy device I have ever seen in my whole life.  That includes cap guns and other crappy toys.  This gun is so crappy it has to be seen to be believed!

So, I was just curious if any of you had dealt with this gun before.  Did we just get a lemon, or are they all this non-functional?  See, even if it hadn't had any problems with the gears or with jamming, I don't see how the FPS would be high enough to use this gun for anything.[/img]

I have not dealt with that particular AEP, but they're all jokes, my guess is you just got a lemon (you get what you paid for) but at the same time, the average AEP costs like $7-15.

Yeah I kinda expected it to suck but I wanted to ask people with more experience hehe...

Is it normal for EBB's to only shoot like 5 to 10 feet?
