Noob question about airsoft grenades
« on: November 15, 2005, 10:51:12 AM »
Hey all, I did a search for this and didn't come up with anything here.  At the October AA game, there were a couple of guys that were using hand grenades with these streamers attached to them that had about 10ft kill zones.  These weren't the ones that shot bbs out everywhere.  I was wondering if anybody could tell me where I could look to buy/make some of these.  And if this topic has already come up, I apologize, my extremely slow computer is cutting a lot of things off when I load pages on this site, so I may have missed it.

I made some out of those duster cans. You have to pull off the trigger assembly, and do a lot of stuff to it.
To make the one with the streamer I used 3 paperclips, 2 normal one rubber coated, 2 rubber bands, and 1 prong paper fastener.
The coated one you bend into the pin, the fastener is bent into the spoon. One paper clip is folded over itself(think bar) and put into the little slot in the front where it is fastened into place by a rubber band. The spoon has a smaller rubber band attached to it, and is attached to the bar.  The last paper clip is cut in half. One half is used as a support to keep the spoon from falling into the trigger housing, the other is bent around the spoon and fashioned so that it has a loop that the pin can go through.
Done other than the ribbon, which is up to you as to choose the material. The pictures aren't very good at explaining it, so next game you come out to I'll show em to you.

These have been discussed intemittantly. The most recent discussions have focused on the gas grenades that expell bbs. Here are some links to older discussions on the rubber types:

Here are a few about the gas ones:

Look through the threads at who has them and send them a PM ans ask them where they got them, every once in a while someone has them for sale.

Guys, thank you very much.  I'll have to pick up some of those nades at JT.  And I like the idea with the duster cans, too...

From what I have seen, Grenades are an add on so one has a more realistic look. So far I have not seen any grenades that are useful. Neither the trowkind or even the air operated M-203 stuff. They look cool, but dont seem to be effective unless you manage to backdoor a few players.

On the other note, if your computer is S_L_O_W, and doing strange things. It probably has bugs in it.

Go to START
then select CONTROL PANEL
then select INTERNET OPTIONS
then hit DELETE COOKIES, DELETE FILES-OK,DELETE FILES-OFFLINE-OK, and CLEAR HISTORY. Set DAYS TO KEEP HISTORY to 0 or 1.
Do this every time you sign off.
Also go to START
PROGRAM
ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS
And select DEFRAG-Defrag every couple weeks
Do an ANTIVIRUS check
And get SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY
Things should go faster

I picked up one of the rubber grenades from JT.  Ricky, I see what you mean about the usefulness of grenades, and I mostly agree with you.  But twice now, in games that I've seen/used grenades, they do seem to have a use.  At just the last game at SI, I used one to flush a guy out from cover when he was pinning us down.  Didn't kill him, but it freed up and gave opportunities to 3 or 4 of us.  And for $10, it's not a huge $ sink.

Thanks for the advice, but I think the problem actually is the phone line we have connected to the modem is crap.  We have a 56k modem, it usually only connects at about 20-30K.
