Take the spring off the front of the hop-up unit. That should do it?!

« Reply #16 on: December 02, 2005, 10:50:48 AM »
I already tried that, didn't solve problem, I also tried shaving the hop-up chamber so it had a little more clearance and that didnt help either, i just got off the phone with Matt over at APD (Arizona Paintball Depot) and he has a G&P metal body w/metal hop-up chamber im gonna go pick up. Thanks for the tip though. Mark

Gotta love one sided stories. As per the agreement that Tom and I had, the entire internals of that gun were going to be replaced until it was working properly. The catch was though, that we would not take his custom painted body in exchange, as it voided the warranty and also couldn't even be reused for parts. He'd get a whole new gun internally, but not externally. He agreed to this, yet still continued to carry on and yell at my staff (while I was still on the phone, and could hear him ranting in the background.) Then and only then did I tell him he'd no longer be welcome to bring the gun into our stores, and that he'd have to send it to corporate directly. It was his lack of maturity and attitude that kept the gun from working, not a policy of ours.

When I Got my SR4 I fired a few hundred rounds and it died, I took it back, and turns out I was given a dud battery, but other than that, I haven't had a single problem.

JT has been great to me, in fact, I think I may be going there again tomorrow... but hopefully won't spend too much money ;)

I bought the Full M16A2 style. The gun works great and it was a damn good deal. The gun looks great, just going to throw a metal body on it.

I too had an SR4 from JT, I had it about a week and was firing it in my backyard when the thing took a dump and wouldn't feed, making this strange sound when I pulle dthe trigger.  I got kinda angry, I had just spent like $250 on my first rifle and this?!  I took it to JT, not even the one I bought it from, actually, to see if they could tell me what was wrong and what I could do to fix it.  Long story short, without ANY problems, I walked out of the store with a brand new one, and an extra hicap.  On another occassion I had a crappy KJW M9 mag, I went to JT to ask what the problem was, they exchanged it for a new one.

What I'm trying to say here is that I have absolutely nothing but the best experiences with JT, especially the stores in phoenix and scottsdale.  And that's why I'll spend my money there happily.

All I can say is that I highly DIS-Recommend (if that's even a word) ALL SRC products.  I bought the SRC SR4 Cross-Draw Crane Stock pack off the JT website one month ago, and the gun has never worked properly.  When I take it in to the Tempe JT Location, they can usually magically get it working, but when I get home, the three distinct problems occur after less than 150 rounds of shooting.  I sent it back to the Chino, CA HQ over a week ago, and haven't gotten a response yet.  I'll be lucky if they fix it perfectly, but I'm hoping for my money back, so I can get a Marui.

Sorry you guys have had problems with the src. I used it all day sunday for training and it never failed. I probably put over 1000 rounds through it and it still works fine.

Tigerman -

PM me with your name and phone number, and I'll call the warehouse to check the status of your gun. Also, write me a brief description of the problems you've been having, and any info that the office gave you (RMA number, etc.) Please bare in mind they're in the process of moving our warehouse from Chino to Riverside, hence the lack of response from them. Hopefully I can have any answer from them today.

From what I have seen, SRC seems to have mixed reviews. I have seen about 6 in action, 3 have broken down. I still stand by the fact that if you are just getting into airsoft, spring the extra 50 or so bucks to get a Marui over the SRC, until SRC fixes the gear box problem.

I have bought an SRC M4.  The initial one I recieved there was a problem with the BBs not loading into the barrel.  From what I could tell, a metal piece was preventing the bb from entering the chamber.  I took it back to JT and they replaced it promptly.  My second one has worked flawlessly.  I even upgraded it with new gears and spring and body recently.  My friend bought one as well and he's had no problems so far.  My nephew also purchased one from JT and the battery was bad, so I took it back and JT repaired it with no questions ask.  JT has said there have been some quality issues with these guns, but they have a done great job of supporting them.  From what I here, Classic Army had similar issues with the first versions.  I can only assume that SRC will get better in the future.  It's always good to have more options.

The gearbox seems pretty solid to me, it was the hopup chamber/barrel assembly that was giving me grief, I just got the new hurricane metal body and will be installing it this weekend, the gearbox is actually identical to the hurricane heavyduty gearbox, it is much stronger than a stock marui box.

I think i had the exact same feeding problem as your buddy and my gun was custom painted also.  JT was awesome and they took care of me completely.  If you are patient and mature (sounds like your buddy was neither) JT will always take care of its customers.  My gun is working great now and If I have any more problems I have no doubt that JT will find a way to make me happy and get my gun working.  JT is not the problem, just your hot-headed friend.
