Sounds cool Doc.  How does it compare to LCHB?

I have not been to either, but a lot of the same people go to both.  Ripcord is the ONLY major event these guys do though so the whole year goes into it.  Its also probably MORE milsim than any other op - you get into character when you register and you dont break character all weekend - no comforts of home, even digging trenches... lol

I'm going for sure.  Its near Merced, CA - about 10 hours from here.

This one looks goooood. USAF owns my sorry butt, though, so I can't go. Here's hoping they repeat in future years, preferably when I have leave.

If it was possible and I would love to attend, but most likely will remain a dream.
It really wouldnt look right at all to see me dug in around Ripcord, my skinny butt belongs with the NVA.

I just read the page, they are hardcore, they even expect you to do guard duty. This civillian puke probably couldn't make it past one shift, I'd be caught sleeping standing up most likely.

Very legit. I just don't have the proper gear and guns. Wish I could go. How many years have they put this on?

Prelim cost is only $40 for this op -

Shelter halves are REQUIRED for biving at the FOB. No modern equipment, camp chairs, etc.

Gear can be purchased locally.  If you are serious I can put you in touch with a guy.  My entire vietnam kit (real era stuff) ran me about $100 for LBE, pouches, mitchel helmet cover....
