Question regarding FPS limit and Semi-auto "Sniper"
« on: February 15, 2006, 12:57:54 AM »
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, I couldnt find anywhere that would suit this topic better.

I am in the process of using a conversion kit to convert a TM AK47 into an SVD rifle.

I will be upgrading the internals to accommodate a more powerful spring. I will also be moding the selector switch so that the rifle is only capable of firing semi-auto.

The question is, what would this rifle fall under concerning max FPS?

It is still an AEG, yet it will be used as a "sniper rifle" The RS SVD is used in this way, it is a semi-auto marksmen rifle. A 400 fps semi-auto rifle will   face trouble in combat with a 400 fps AEG.
Or would it be allowed the 500 fps limit along with the 50ft eng. rule?

I will be using it as a sniper rifle, thus meaning squeezing one or two shots at a time rather than a half a dozen.

I am just making sure, and since most of my team's future events will be played with AA, now is a good time to make sure my rifle will be allowed to be fielded. Better safe than sorry.

Umm, the rules are pretty clear. Under 400 fps, you can go full auto. Over, you must render the weapon unable to fire full auto, maintain a 50 foot engagement distance. Over 500 fps, the weapon is out.

You must convert it to be mechanically impossible to fire fully automatic.

Pinning the gearbox or reciever is the most common way.
