SoftAir Depot
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:32:51 PM »
I'm here to write about my absolute disgust with the softair depot store in scottsdale. they have NO SELECTION in terms of guns. Accessories are a little bit better, however nowhere close to other stores in scottsdale. Their staff KNOWS NOTHING!!! they constantly have to look things up as when it comes to prices or game dates. THEY KNOW EVEN LESS in terms of tech. NOBODY who works there knows anything about how the gun works or how to fix a problem OTHER THAN their tech and repair man. who still DOES NOT KNOW ENOUGH TO GIVE SUFFICIENT ADVICE. for example, i heard him talking to a customer about batteries......

The customer asked a question about NEW batteries, the repair guy told the customer that a Nickle Cadmium (as opposed to a nickle metal-hydride) battery needed to be completely charged and completely discharged or the battery would fail. THAT IS FALSE INFORMATION!!! unless a battery is over 7 years old (made before 1999 in most cases) it will NOT have a memory. Which means that you CAN safely charge over remaining charge. (source: "Mitch" [manager] from batteries plus in scottsdale)

Their owner constantly misleads customers in order to up-sell them. (spend about 20 min in the store when it's busy, you'll hear him)

these are just a few examples of the staffs trickery and misinformation.

I KNOW THE NAMES OF THE STAFF AND THE OWNER OF THIS STORE, I DID NOT INCLUDE THEIR NAMES FOR A REASON, IF YOU REPLY, MAKE SURE THEY REMAIN NAMELESS.

The only guy there with any knowledge is Jay.  I feel sorry for them, I really used to think the owner was a good guy, but he just charges far too much for their products.  Dean is a good tech, but I never see him in there anymore.  I deal with JT for my repairs (when I can't do them because of lack of time) or online sales through Airsoft Troops or Redwolf.

I thoroughly agree. I went there once, and i will never go back. I was looking for a prometheus or mad bull tightbore for a TM xm-177(do they make them cuz i havn found one yet?). The only person there that even had a concept of what that was, was another customer. And then they tried to sell me on a mag that wasn even for my gun. If u value your time, avoid softair depot. JT all the way. WOOHOO jeremiah, u rock!

You know when you read something, think about it, and get more pissed off as the day goes on?  Well, that's how I feel right now.

I've become extremely dissapointed in SAD in the recent months.  I put the game May 13th or w/e day it was on the board, put 16+ on there.  Had to come back in a few days later cause I drove a guy down there, and it was changed to 12+!!!!!  I put it back to 16, and then my Drum mag Clayed owed me came in, so I went in, and the game was completely erased off the board.  That was the last time I've been in there.

But what really pisses me off, is their business ethics.  They charge an arm and a leg, because they can.  Little kiddies' parents from scottsdale can afford to pay $400+ for a marui M4, and $120 for an HFC revolver, and $240 for a WA 1911 that is $120 on WGC shop.  That's what really irks me.  I understand the need for a profit, but the majority of the time, it's a 100% markup.

Ugh

I've never even been in their store...and I never will.

Also. I would not recomend going to Evike in california...here's why:

I seen to recall a problem at SAD where the staff didn't double check for BB's in the mag before they let someone handle and even TEST FIRE a weapon. Well guess what? The staff at evike doesn't check either. How do I know this? Cause when I was there I got SHOT by one of the staff. Nate and Ryan were there too. The guy fires the gun, I feel it hit my bare skin on my arm, and I calmly say "uhhh...i just got shot" to the guy. He (idioticly) says, no you didn't. There's no BB in here (he was asian). And so we all kinda stood there for a sec with a WTF look...

Yeah The staff there was also absolutely cluless as far as pricess go. They had to look everything up. They new nothing about the guns. Nate asked to look at the G&G UMG on the wall and the guy points to the MP5 and say "this one?"... Yeah so if you know what you want and you only have to be there a few minutes, at least go there with eye protection on.

Dust2Dust that last paregraph is 100% true, when I started airsoft that was the only store I new I bought everything there. Although If I wanted to know something I had to look it up cause if I called them and asked the best answer i would get is "ummm maybe... I don't know" or "what is that?" Plus they dont have  much more than a few M4s, spare mags, and BBs in their store. The owner Clay is the nicest and most airsoft oriented in the store, but everyone else is a dumpass. BTW My friend Peter (PolandsLeftTesticle) took his barreta there cause it was broken and after a month and 2 weeks they said they can't fix it. And whenever my M4 broke I'd always get it a month later and get charged $50+. I hate them.

Those damn Asians!!!!  :D

I was in JT Tucson when somebody was firing a gun into a cardboard box, I didn't get hit.  After I left I was a little pissed, but more at myself for not saying something.
