Go with a Mauser Broomhandle. You got fps, accuracy, reliability right out of the box. And the price is good too. One con, its hard to find a holster for the gun and if you do they're very expensive.

Actually, thats not a bad idea. But.... He could get the carbine version. Slightly higher fps and more range/accuracy....

It doesnt look as cool in my opinion, but hed be able to play with it and do good, i think atleast.

What about the HFC Mac 11 or UTG MP5?

Personally, I like the Mac 11 myself.

Range for both will probably be the same...

I havent heard of either of my friends UTG ak/UTG mp5 breaking.

I think the mac 11 is cooler though and id rather buy that then a UTG gun.

Just clean it well and keep it oiled, and dont dry fire it.

I hear they crap out a lot and you should just save your money for a nice gun. For only 70$ more than the SRC M4 you could get a ICS MP5 A-4.I'll find the link later.

EDIT:Found the site http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-ICS-MP5A4-1.htm it's actually 90$ more but it's way more reliable.

Don't buy an SRC.  It WILL crap out on you, especially if you try to upgrade it.

Save your money for a marui or classic army.

Come on now! I used 2 upgraded SRCs for Lion Claws this year. Left the TM at home. No problems. (battery dying at the last 10 min of the day don't count)

Cyma Ak are fine also. I'll let you know more after owning 1.

People tend to "hear" a lot of things. Post some facts, someone....anyone!

EDIT: SRCs are far from great. They do make a great parts guns or project guns.

Src's are ok but the plastic hop up isnt the best. the metal bodies improve the gun a whole lot

Ok, I think you guys are getting a little off topic.  At first I said I wanted to sped 100$, fine.  Then I extended a bit to 130$ for the Mac 11.  Then the  M4 for 140$.  And now the ICS for 219$?!?  Isn't the Mac 11 good enough?  It works well, as well as the others for 89 dollars less, right, correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT:I have tried the ak47 from CYMA, it sucks, worked once and never was to be fired again.

How much was the AK from CYMA, if it was 30$-60$ then it was the first POS one they made. The new Marui clone AK-47 from CYMA might actually  be okay, try to find someone that has one and ask them about it.

I had the Matrix AK... im sure it was.  Maybe not exactly CYMA, but i'm guessing that if they are the same... it is a piece.  I thought it was cool shit when i first got it... and wanted to do a lot to it.  But, after a few games and not being able to hit my target about 50 feet from me... i realized it really was a piece.  So i saved up and bought a Tokyo Marui.  Best decision... but should have done that first.  That's what happens when you rush into things...    My Marui was well worth the $270, plus the extra $150~ in upgrades.

The black furniture looked cool though... but now i have Olive Drab! 8)

The new CYMA AK is a version 3 metal gearbox Marui clone. It seems to be solid.
The matrix AK is a good body but plastic gearbox.
If you want to know go to a local JT location and check it out for yourself.
