NEWB question
« on: June 05, 2006, 02:15:08 PM »
Is it okay if me and my friends come out to games with crappy AEGs?  I know how much you all hate them, but I don't exactly have lots of money, and my friends are just going to test out the sport for awhile.  i just want some expirience, so would that be alright?  Also, is it okay to dual wield? My friend wanted to know.

It would be alright if you came out with LPEGs but I don't know about dual wielding that probably depends if the host of the game would let you. But be warned if you use LPEGs prepare to get...OWNED [smilie=armata_pdt_40.gif]

More importantly than your equipment is your age. Unfortunately there are not many games that people under 18 can attend.

Detheyeball if you want to play at a game and you can take the heat then you can always play at SWPB(Southwest paintball). All the paintballers are gone for the summer and there are 4 games left that you could attend: 2 Scenario games, Swat 1 CQB, and Airsoft boot camp.

You could come with a lpeg, but i dont know how much fun youd have using one. And as said before, age is the more important factor. Youd probably have more fun if you saved your dollars and got somthing better. Youd have to take a leap of faith though. (getting into somthing your not sure if youd like)

And that's the main reason for getting a lpeg.  Also, mainly I want the expirience, and finding out if I should spend the money on it.

Yeah but with a LPEG you don't get the full experiance because 1.the gun shoots like 50 ft. and 2. you would get owned by almost everyone on the field(that wouldn't be fun).
In the  words of Vince"you went driving in a honda, now it's time to drive a Mclaren" or something like that.

Well equipment is not the whole factor on having fun. I started out with a GBB pistol and played many games that way.  Sure I was out ranged and out gunned most of the time but all that I had to do was change tactics.  Granted it made it much much harder to kill someone, but it made it that much more sweet when I did. I think that if you have the right mindset, then you can have fun out there with any plasitc bb gun.  The player enhances the equipment, better equipment just allows you to do it better.
Main factor though is age, like stated before.

Yeah, i remember my LPEG AK.  At least that what i considered it.  I was better off going pistol only.  But like Mad Sarge said, you may learn to be more tactical, sneaky, and deadly with the right mindset... i went through that stage... and now that i have a high end AEG, it makes it 10x better.  You may not get a good experience and forget about spending the money, or you could get a good experience and become better.  Leap of faith...

Then let me ask you this...
What would be a gun that would be upgradeable and/or useful in the future and that isn't over 100 dollars?

Nothing, the only halfway decent gun would be the UTG guns at this sitehttp://www.shortyusa.com/ but they would probably break if you tried to upgrade them.

Yeah they sell them at Jungle toy http://www.airsoft128.com/xcart/catalog/VER319F_Marui_Clone_AK47_Style_Full_Stock_AEG_from_CYMA-p-34238.html But be warned CYMA is not a reliable brand for the most part.

what about a GBB pistol?  They are reasonably priced, and I can have use for them later as a sidearm.  Also, will UTG's fire decent and not break down fast?  As for CYMA, I've had bad experiences with that model of gun, the AK-47.
