CYMA v ICS?
« on: June 29, 2006, 10:24:18 AM »
I recently purchased this ICS mp5
http://www.airsoftarizona.com/forumbb/v ... hp?t=10119

And my friend recently purchased a hundred dollar CYMA Mp5, and we've been testing 'em out.

His is more accurate, and hurts waaaaaaaay more. Do you think there's something wrong with my ICS, or is CYMA crazy good deal? :x

Wait for a couple of weeks, his CYMA will more than likely give out faster than your ICS. In airsoft, you really get what you pay for.

The CYMA MP5-J???(I'll assume!) Those things are great. 295-310fps out the box. The M100 yours has is rated around 330fps, plus it was used. The CYMA MP5-J is pretty much all the same as a TM, except minus the TM's excellent quality control. Keep us updated on how it goes.

The "what you pay, is what you get" still is true (mostly), but things are changing.

Well, I'm still really impressed with the ICS one, and yeah, it is used. It's a big step up from the Double Eagle m83 that I was using before, though.

We've only popped each other a couple times from about ten yards, but this weekend we're going to have a small game with a bit more range. What I have noticed about the two guns though... mine feels much nicer in hand, is a lot heavier, and isn't as wobbly.

I'm not sure which one he has, he bought it from the JungleToy in Tucson, but I doubt that really narrows that down any.

no cyma is a cheap company it will give out soon enough, the cyma is garbage as seph said its 100 dollars apposed to 200-300 dollars. its like a car almost would you think the 5,000$ car would be as good and last as long as the 30,000$ car....the only thing i have found about ics is that the tappet plate are prone to breake but thats nothing to worry about they are cheap to replace. and the older models are not as accurate but again you can fix that. you got a better gun so no worries, and you now have bragging rights over him! if thats what you looking for! :D

Hmm. We'll play our first 'game' with 'em soon, and hopefully that'll prove that I made the better buy.

There's only one thing that really bothers me though. After I slap the magazine in, if I barely knock it on something, it falls out. I can also just tug on the mags to change 'em out. I also have to hold and push forward on the magazine to get it to feed properly.

The guy who sold it recommended electrical tape in the mag well to fix it, and while it won't bump out, it still can be pulled out, and must be pushed forward if I want to shoot more than 2 pellets and then dryfire.

Any suggestions on that?

You could shoot holiding your gun upsidedown. jk, but try a new mag. I had the same problem with my ICS M4 but  when I put tape around it, it worked. If you tape it good, push it in and it should stay there, if not tape it some more.

I work at JT in Scottsdale and I bought one of the CYMA MP5Js way back in December.  It gets used almost every weekend by my youngest son .
At least 500 to 1000 rounds a week.
The gun has not been opened since I bought it (Those of you who know me may find that hard to believe   ).
The problem that all of you have is that you base everything on what you read online, when you should also take into account personal experiences as well.
That doesn't mean I don't use higher end guns either. All I ask is that you keep in mind that there are cheaper, but alsmost as good, alternatives out there. Just because one of your friends didn't pay as much, don't give him a hard time about it.

I definately wasn't giving him a hard time, if you were talking about me. I was actually telling him how cool it was that he paid less and had a gun that hit harder and more accurately than mine.

I made the joke that I should just switch out my ICS to get a CYMA like his, but, truth be told, I really like the weight and feel of this gun, even though it seems less accurate. The scratches all over it from the previous owner(s) also give it a certain flair... battle scars are neat.

I wasn't referring to you, just the ones who automatically assume that the new CYMA guns suck just because some of their older product did.

Im gona have to agree with the people supporting cyma. Thier LPEGs werent very good, but they werent meant to be. My buddy bought the CYMA AK and it seems to be just as good(if not a lil better) than the marui. Another freind of mine has a CYMA(or WELL. Im not too sure) M4 and he has had no problems with the gun at all and its range, firing rate, and velocity are all very close(again if not better) to the marui.

CYMA and Well, and UTG make guns of lower quality. Performance may be good, but if you upgrade you have to upgrade everything inside the gun. And the guns are have a more toyish feel to them. But I could be totaly wrong, I just have seen a few of these guns and this is what I have to say about them.

UTG is not a manufacturer of airsoft. They are just rebranded Chinese imports just like Well and CYMA.  As far as upgrading the CYMA guns are exactly like the Marui Gearboxes in design and anything you can do to a Marui you can do to one of these.
