I've heard alot of bad things about the Warhawk and Commando.

This is airsoftretreats review with pictures as proof.

Airsoft Retreat is great, you can trust those guys. Don't get the warhawk, just get a good gun, you won't regret it. You could also get a TM, it is a lot cheaper than a CA.

If your friends all have the same level gun as the warhawk than yeah it would be a OK buy. But if your going to do something in the way of an organized game with it, you'll better off with something else.

If this is going to be your first airsoft gun, I would not suggest buying a really expensive gun. There are some pretty cheap snipers and you could try some of those, but you should make sure you really like it before you get an expensive gun. I have a couple of friends that are 13 and they were happy with pretty cheap guns, they might move up later.
You should look at a Tokyo Marui spring pistol to start. They are only $30. (make sure you get a version 2 or 3, they are the ones with hop up.) If you do that for a while with some of your friends with spring guns you should like it a lot. I once read that real airsoft skill comes from years of playing with springers, not buying an AEG for your first gun. But i do not at all disagree with the other guys, TM and CA are great brands, I have a TM. But that probably shouldn't be your first gun.

Wow totaly diffrent advice in one day

Both the TM and the UTG shoot at about the same velocity.
It wouldn't matter if he were to take it to an organized event. The performance wouldn't be much different anyways.

However, if you ever do purchase the warhawk, some heavy upgrades to the gearbox down the road would be a MUST.
