Cool pics... I guess you wouldn't happen to have any high-res ones? ;)

I tried taking some, but it was hella hard.

The shutter speed wasn't fast enough and I didn't know when the lighting would strike lol.

Sorry, I wish they were higher res myself.

To take good pictures of lightning, you have to have a camera that has the option of leaving the shutter open. Plant it facing the storm on a tripod, and leave the shutter open. After lightning strikes, close the shutter and go on to the next exposure.

It's like a strobe light effect. You can leave the shutter open even after one strike to capture a whole bunch of strikes but... it doesn't look too great if you keep overlapping them.

I never knew that three inches was the minimum length for a handgun barrel. I guess all of the anti-gun politicians wont be able to register their penises.

I dunno, if you are standing on asphalt and wearing shoes, I'm pretty sure nothing will happen to you.
You still run a danger of being injured when lightning hits something else near you.

You might be wearing rubber shoes, but when that transformer blows the raining shrapnel isn't going to care what you're wearing.

Of course the odds of that aren't very good, but then again the odds of getting hit by lightning aren't very good either.

Thats what i ment, i just didn't state it, thank you djmtott. Becuase if it strikes by you and you are wearing rubber sole shoes, it can still hurt you. Especialy if you by a metal pole.

Neither are the odds of winning the lottory, but that is beside the point. When I first moved here I thought that the only storms and rain we would get would be in the spring and even then be very small, so when we had this storm I was awestruck at how big the storms are here when ya'll actually get 'em.

I was working at a grocery store in Wisconsin (where I grew up), and a bolt of lightning hit the Wal-Mart on the other side of the parking lot.

At that moment all of the automatic doors opened up at the same time right in front of me, with no people even close. Was kinda spooky, and pretty cool.

I was on my way to Target and a Lightning strike happened no more than 13-20 feet in front of me.

All the lights in that little area were momentarily put out.

The most significant thing I noticed is that right when the lighting struck, it felt like someone punched me in the chest.

Just goes to show that you aren't completly safe from lightning even in a car.

It was raining as i left for class this morning at about 0800, I'm still glad I applied those 3 coats of rain-x to my windows last week. It makes a big difference.

No rain in phoenix.

What a surprise...

We just get clouds, then everything burns up the closer it gets to phoenix.

It blows.
