Marauders Insurgent training and OP: Sandstorm
« on: August 26, 2006, 09:03:21 PM »
Today we went out to Southwest to practice insurgent tactics for Sandstorm. We got to practice using our mortar and we're ready to shell the US forces. The US forces will have 2 platoons. One will consist of adults and two will have the minors. One will be fighting against the adult Marauders with two will fight against RMTC. The US forces will have the full use of the 5 military vehicles so we got some training in the use of our roadside IEDs, like the remote detonated bomb  :D . We shifted around some cover and bunkers so defense and offense will be a little less difficult for both sides. We're gonna be taking down all the annoying netting too. It's gonna be intense fire fights almost constantly. It'll be pretty exciting with the mortars and the smoke bombs. Plus we have the general coming out as our VIP.

Yea i can't wait to be yelling random things like JIHAD!!!!. That will be one fun game, and espically since there are vehicles. And those IED's are just cool to see go off. I hope to see some of you guys out there.

What did I say that would reveal how it works? It's a remote control car modified into a bomb. I don't know the electrical stuff but it was pretty cool.

To answer the quesiton about the remote IED's.  The insurgents will have prepositioned smoke bombs placed along vehicle paths.  These smoke bombs are not very large and produce about 10,000 cubic feet of smoke (a small cloud 10' by 10' for about 20 seconds).   Any vehicle driving within 20 feet of an IED will be disabled and personnel will have to dismount and assault on foot.

There will be about 10 prepositioned devices during the first mission on Sunday.  We will set off over 30 devices over the course of Op Sand Storm.

Players will get a chance to train with the vehicles against the roadside bombing and ambush tactics of the insurgents on Saturday's training missions.

As an update for Op Sand Storm, we have 25 players who have registered and paid.  About half are attending both the training and game.  The other half are attending just the game.

I expect a total of about 60 - 75 players at the event.  However, it would be great to fill all 100 spaces.  We have also confirmed a sixth vehicle for the event.

Game information will go out on Friday to those who have registered and paid.

Another question: how is this mortar working?

Sounds pretty fun.  I might get a group together to go play.

My bad, I should have clarified.  I meant, what is this mortar firing, like what projectile?  What are the rules for how it is going to be used?

In op iraqi freedom it was shooting little nerf footballs.  If it drops near you within a certain amount of feet I forgot the exact amount, you are dead.
