Tanio-Koba
« on: September 02, 2006, 08:18:05 PM »
I have heard of theese barrels before but never had any info on them or anything. And I just found a few at WGCshop and they look very interesting. They cost just about (give or take) as much as a prometheus barrel. So my question is is the Tanio-Koba HOP Twist Barrel for Marui AK47 / G3 Series (459mm) better/more accurate than any other barrel? Do they actually work as well as they claim?

Pics from www.wgcshop.com:

The barrels are currently out of stock (stock alarm) but I emailed WGC shop about them and I will post the reply.

- Whoa. It's got a twist--that's awesome. It's made to work like a real gun, as well. Another question to add is "does the hop-up work with that barrel? Or does the twist eliminate the need?"

I never knew that three inches was the minimum length for a handgun barrel. I guess all of the anti-gun politicians wont be able to register their penises.

No, you can't use hop WITH the twist barrel and it's for 1J velocities, over 1J, the BB is moving far too fast for the rifling to to take hold.

from what i've heard, the bb dosen't actualy touch the rifling, the air goes around the bb in the rifling and give it a spin.

- And now the real question is: "What is the advantage of this barrel? Is it better than a precision barrel with hop-up?"

Oh, sorry for any confusion.

I didn't mean to intimate that the rifling touches the BB, I just meant that the rifling effect isn't strong enough to take hold on the BB when it's going 400FPS.

These are very much a foreign thing in terms of employment, Arnie's Airsoft has a myriad of threads on this I'm sure.

Fish, If your going for a longer barrel than your AK can take, and sticking a silencer on it, I've heard a few extra mm's of barrel dosn't make much difference. the tightbore makes the difference.  Besides, with a silencer, you lose the CQB-ness.  Just a thought.

Survey says these really arnt very good.  As stated Earlier Arnies has a lot of these posts, Basically you loose a little fps to get a seriously messed up flight path.  I hear these work better in pistols then they do in AEG's.

Survey Says:  Tightbores are more effective, and you keep your hop!

Funny...  I've talked to several people who said they use them for guns upwards of 500 (sniper rifles) with hopup and the accuracy is amazing.

Maybe I'll test one out soon.
