Marauders Airsoft thanks everyone who came out to Operation Sand Storm this weekend.  As one of the team leaders, I really enjoyed training and playing against the members of the US Forces.

Please use this thread to post about what made the game fun for you.  Please send me a pm with any concerns or ideas for improvements.  This might keep the thread going in the right direction.

Our team hopes you will join us for our next series of games in October.

My most memorable phrase from the game for the insurgents:  PINZGAUR!!!!!

I had a great time!  The most fun was getting on the vehicles and securing the ammo boxes in the second mission.

I had a damn good time yesterday, despite my soreness today.

Using the vehicles was an absolute blast, as they really helped to spread the battle out over a wider area and open up all sorts of news situations we wouldn't have been in without them.  And I thought the missions were very well conceived, backed up by maps and briefings with clear objectives.

Because this will probably come up again in the near future, I'll pre-emptively put in my .02 now.  I was rather pleasantly surprised by the attitude, maturity, and teamwork exhibited by many of the younger players.  I know my butt was bailed out by a 14 year old when I was wounded and needed to get clear.  There were two issues I did have concerns about, but the forum isn't the place to discuss them and they didn't detract from one hell of a good day, so meh.

And lastly, a definate thanks to the drivers out there.  I heard nothing but great things about them all day long, and these guys took us everywhere we needed all friggin day long.

I loved it!  Especially the medic rules - that really made the game interesting.

the trucks raped us.  Maybe next time can the insurgents have a rpg or m203 to knock them out?

Yeah I think thats a good idea.  I think it was a little unfair that we could just roll up near an insurgent and you guys couldn't shoot or anything.  It would add more realism if the insurgents could shoot at the vehicles or something.

I only remember the duce and a half rolling up on an insurgent, backing up, rolling up, backing up, etc. until the Americans finally got a shot on him. That was utlra realism.

The insurgents had plenty of opportunities to disable the US Forces vehicles with road side bombs.  During the first mission, almost all the vehicles that made an assault on the town of Ramadi were hit with IED's and disabled.

During Missions 2 and 3, the insurgents were fighting so aggressively to over take the Al Ramadi Mosque and Government Center that we really did not establish defensive positions.  After our success in Mission 1, the insurgents did not expect a hard push into our territories.  The US Forces found a weakness in the insurgent tactics and exploited it.

I know that many members of the insurgency claimed that the IED's were not functioning.  However, I had a 75% (3 out of four) effectiveness with the IED's I set up and fired.  There was a huge amount of operator error with the road side bombs.  This was due to rough handling and improper placement. Remember real IED's only work about 80% of the time.

I guess more training is in order  8)

Yeah... that was me they were rolling on!  I bet it looked cool as hell to the guys in the truck though.... us running around trying to hide behind a twig!

All of the IED's my cell was able to place worked just fine.  Problem was we either couldn't get the vehicles to fall in the trap or they just wouldn't drive near the IED....  thats probably realistic too...

Overall is was a great time and a nice warm up for Irene next week.  Then Bulldog two weeks after Irene, and then Hac Bao three weeks after that....      8)
