What do you mean by "better"?  Any of the Tanakas are good.  it just depends what look you want.

The SVD isn't a true sniper rilfe, but a squad support rifle anyways.  Modern units don't use the KAR either.  I think the m24 looks the sexiest.

Also why does it matter if the KAR isnt still issued?  Its a beautiful rifle.  Please give better support then "It looks better blah blah"  WHY is it better. . . .

Ummm...this is an opinion poll and my opinion is that the KAR98 wouldn't work with the modern MILSIM loadout, that is why I said that it depends on the "look" you want.

The reliablility and accuracy of the Tanaka gas rifles is renown so it comes down to personal preference.  I know a guy with a M40A1 with the only upgrade being to the barrel, who kills with impunity.  It probably isn't a mistake that 3 out of 5 of the rifles listed are Tanaka.

I personally like the m40 better but its all most the same as the m24. The only difference is the feel IMO.
