Here (raises hand)! 8)  Congrats on that buck. Although, I mostly hunt small stuff  like rabbit and quail (tasty) and the occasional varmint (coyotes are a real challenge: sharp, sneaky, and fast  :D ).

It has varied over the years, but right now I use a shotgun for rabbit/quail.  I was using an older 12 ga. Remington 870 w/ 28" barrel, no rib, and a fixed modified choke (recently sold).  I'm going to pick up a Remington SPR220 12 ga. side by side double (Russian made for Remington) this week and, if it proves to be a decent gun, I'm going to get one of their over/unders too.  Loads: 2-3/4" 1-1/8oz #5 for rabbit and the same except with #7-1/2 shot for quail.   For yotes, an H&R Ultra Varmint single shot in .223 Rem. with a Cabela's Pine Ridge 3-9x50 scope and various loads. Right now I'm partial to Hornady 55 gr. V-Max loads. :)

That kicks asses, good job , how big meat wise was he, was it a hard pack out with it?

Man I miss that stuff, love to hunt anything that will walk or fly, four legs or two.

Deer Jerky, deer stew, steaks..........  um good!

Do you do any serious bow hunting yet?

yea the horns will be mounted. well about the bowhunting. I have been treestand whitetail hunting. but that didnt turn out too well. those things are tricky!

about the meat I love it so much of it..I wrestled my dad about what the meat would be turned into but since it was my deer I came out with victory. 1/2 will be jerky  1/4 will be meat for chilli and 1/4 sausage!

i also cut the backstraps out for some steak serloin.

mm with some bbq sauce =)

I had that kind of happen but i was on a deer hunt watching a herd of doghs or however you spell it and the biggest elk I've ever seen comes walking by. I wish i got drawn for elk that year. and this yea I put in again but I hate getting all excited for the draw day and getting the letter in the mail "we regret to inform you that you have not been drawn.."
