Which Socom 16
« on: December 16, 2006, 06:25:05 PM »
I'm looking into a Socom 16, I was wondering if any of you have had experience with G&G model and what was your impression of it.  I'm asking this because TM just came out with their own version of the Soc 16 and I would like advice on decided which AEG would be the better buy.  Does the G&G Soc 16 have the same bad reputation as G&G's M14s do?

Even though I owned the G&G SOC16, the marui m14's seem to be perfect. The Marui's have superior range and accuracy.

Well, I dunno.

My first G&G M14 was just absolute trash. I sold it for $200 to be rid of it.

My second G&G M14 was OK, after I turned it into a Systema M14 with G&G cosmetics.

My G&G UMP double fed, had an awkward hopup adjustment, even more awkwards mags, and just generally shot for shit.

Oh, and PHX COBRA had a G&G that was a piece of shit.

And the G&G uh, PM4 or whatever the M4 is called, the one that COL McKnight had at LCV...the one he never fired? That Carlo Omana won? Well, that piece of shit is broken already.

Not to mention the TM M14 is the finest stock gun available right now.

I have a G&G Socom.  I also have a TM M14 (not mine really, its Jackson's, but he can't do anything about it since he's in Iraq).

The G&G was broke out of the box.... teeth broke off the gears.  I had systema gears put in and a new spring and the thing is a beast.  I used it at several national ops this year.

Right now its down because the motor connection broke off and I need a new motor put in.

I'll be using my SOCOM at Night Scorpion and LC VI this year because it has better range and accuracy than my CQB (which fukkin hums by the way thanks to Dean and Brandon!!), and its wicked quiet.

So I had to drop like $100 into my G&G to overcome some design problems with better gears and all, but whatever...

All of that said, TM did not have a SOCOM when I got the G&G.  If TM had a SOCOM I would have a TM SOCOM right now.

Might get one anyway...

Poweredge has them.

Or, you could get it from Redwolf and add a Guarder SP120 FTK and get a handful of the $12 King Arms standards and be good.

When i put the Guarder FTK into my TM M14 I got alot of problems.  It wouldnt be a bad idea to buy a Guarder Pinion Gear to go with your FTK to prevent any unnecessary gear lock ups.  (thats whats wrong with mine)  Definetely get the TM SOC 16 Though, G&G has issues that they need to work out and none of this "Ohh its due to the great seal that our guns have" bull....

Vince do you use the King Arms mags?  Just recently came across them and was wondering how they worked.  Might have to get me some...

Nah, I have TM standards.

I bought a King Arms M4 mag, on a whim, and they seem fine, and I think mags are probably one of those things where if the one is fine, so is the other.
