Say what you want... but I'd rather have 3,000+ American's alive rather than him dead.
Just my $0.02
Not to get into a political debate in this otherwise friendly forum, but isn't the freedom of the Iraqi people from such a dictator worth the lives of those who volunteer for service? It's never good to lose our countrymen, but remember, no one over there was drafted.
It was beat into my head during my service. "As a soldier in the United States Armed Service, you ARE in the business of death. Don't ever forget, you WILL be told to do things unsafe. You WILL be put in harms way for reasons you cannot understand. Make no mistake, when the time comes to fight, you will fight, or you will die." "And then you will be in a world of sh*t, because Marines are not allowed to die without permission!" R. Lee. Emery, Full Metal Jacket
Now please, we could go round about this for hours, arguing semantics. I would love to have my brothers and sisters alive. I don't believe the govn't went about the war properly, but that does not negate the fact that a terrorist and convicted criminal against humanity has been removed from power.
Obviously Saddam wasn't our main objective, or we wouldn't still be there, now passing 2 years since his capture.
