Reassembling a CIRAS
« on: January 08, 2007, 12:48:47 AM »
To all of you CIRAS owners!

How the devil do you retie the string inside a CIRAS land version so it releases. I was adjusting the shoulders length and went to put it back together and forgot how to tie the knot. Pics if you have them!

Thanks

I don't remember tying any knots on the CIRAS I used.  Do you have a real one or a replica?

There is a knot, but it is behind the dacron loop and is really just tied and forgot about.  You don't need to adjust it, as long as you didn't make it too small or large to begin with.

Awesome, I get it now, the cable releases the loop which in turn free's up everything else. the knot and washer go on the inside of the vest and the looped end faces the outside.

Thanks a million Raith!

Yep.

One of the things I also did when I had mine was run some paracord from my weapon to the point where the cable meets the dacron loop.  If you were release the vest, the weapon would be freed from it too if you set it up correctly.
