Crazy Canadian Scientist builds new super-suit
« on: January 15, 2007, 12:37:30 PM »
Some of you may remember Troy Hurtubise as the guy that wore a suit made of spider-silk-like material that he claimed could withstand BEAR attacks and made a car hit him to prove it.  He's now developed a new bullet-proof suit for his spring line of armored apparel:

I read in the book Nanocosm that scientists are working on a bulletproof "shirt" if you will, that is as light as a silk shirt, being made of microscopic metal thread. Sounds a bit more comfortable than that Halo suit looks.

How will getting hit by a truck prove that it can stand up to a bear?  Don't you need a bear to do that?

How does it absorb the kinetic energy after it stops the actual round from penetrating?

It doesnt, you still could end up very much dead. But the fabric can be used over over things that do absorb the actually force of the round.

I saw it on TV.  I dunno if it was the same guy, but it WAS a dude in a bear-proof suit, and that bear whipped his ass.  He was totally fine though.

You're post is irrevelevant to the topic's main point.
Not to mention your humor could use a bit of work.

The suit, to me, looks a tad bit unconfortable.
Hauling around a black suit for weeks could really start to piss people off.
However, I love the idea of magnetic holesters.

The "laser on the helmet to point out snipers" sounds like a gimic.

Could you imagine moving around in that?
It would be bulky and unconfortable, in my opinion.

I understand the suit has spaces for joint movement, but the thing could dramatically decrease mobility.
Again, I may be wrong, but this is all in my opinion.
