I'd definitely buy a bunch of those.  Anyone want to buy some 300rd high caps cheap?

I think I would like to get my hands on one, and give it a thorough field test before I bought a bunch.  I'd like to see how it's designed and how it holds up under pressure.

This might be the reason why I have to cave in and get an M4...

Sounds like a great new mag, but I'm going to wait for some people to test them out before I buy a batch of them. If I got one of these I'd have to buy an autoloader, imagine the size a loading rod would have to be for that mag [:P]

Thess would be a great addition to the M4 life style.Ill end up doin the same as harley and give it some feild test before i went and bought 7 more. That would bite if they ended up having a bunch of problems and you had allready bought 8 or so of the mags.

I wonder if the guts are the same as normal standards with one long spring coiled through the mag.  More than twice the ammo means more than twice the spring length if it loads that way.

Your revolver only holds six rounds, but your fists never run out of ammo.

It must be a totally new design.  If you've ever taken a standard mag apart you'd know that the spring in one of those is so damn long that doubling it for this new mag would be ludacris.  It must use some sort of wound spring instead.  I need to get my hands on one.

Yeah, I have a batch of standards I got from RW a long time ago that kept popping apart, so I opened them up to fix 'em.  Of all the screws to hold the inner guts together only one was present in each mag.  Plus the spring for 70 rounds is as Harley mentioned rather long, and relatively weak, so there would definately need to be a new system to support more than twice the capacity.

WGC has a note about this new mag on their home page.  They say it holds 130 BBs, not the 160 reported earlier, and they show a pic of the guts.  It doesn't seem possible that the spring and all of those BBs could fit into the track shown, but I've got one ordered.  We'll see...

It says that the new mag stores the BBs in a "zig zag" pattern I imagine much the same way a double stack magazine works in a real steel handgun.  There is definitely room to double the the BBs up side by side in the M16 mag.  I guess that is where they get the 130rnd capacity from.  You will have to let us know how well this system works with BBs Kyle.

New M4 "standard high cap" mag coming
« Reply #12 on: March 28, 2003, 11:03:33 AM »
Arnie's Airsoft is reporting on a new mag for the M4 series AEG which is a non-winding, standard mag which holds 160 BBs.  G&P is releasing it and it should be available in about one week.  Price is $25US.
This could be a great alternative for those player who can't afford 8-10 standard mags, but want the reliability of a standard vs. a hi-cap.  If I knew how to post a link here, I would, but head over to Arnies for the review in the meantime.
