Operation: West Wing - worth it?
« on: March 13, 2007, 09:24:55 AM »
Hey all,

I'm assuming some Marauders are on this site - my question is, since I cant find a forum at their site --- how good is a typical Marauder's scenario game?

I've been in AZ for 6 months, but this'll be my first airsoft game out here. I've attended a number of bigger games, for cheaper - so I'm curious why its a bit pricey.  Not being a skeptic, I just need a little convincing.

I'll be going Fedayeen no question, so what do I get for my $60.00?

Cheers, thanks in advance.

I have attended all of the Marauders senario games, they are fun and well worth your money. Since this will be the last senario game at this feild I would attend it. We usually get alot of people out at them, like at RedDawn we had 102 people.

Meh, it depends on your crowd. The Marauders tend to market toward the younger airsofters, as they are about the only people who will let kids under 16 play. Official AA games, and others like them tend to bar the younger players for a variety of reasons. I have never been to a Marauder's game, but from the pictures that I have seen, I have gathered that it is just not my scene.

Yeah, after reading a lot of these threads, I'm a bit on the fence.  My airsoft lust is great...especially having not skirmished in a year - but I despise with a passion immature kids, and cheaters.

My team in NC prided itself on having/being neither.  Hence we had a good rep, even if the teams we played with were cheating, lol.  I dunno, we'll see...perhaps I'll show up.

So, uh, why don't you just show up to the other 75% of games posted?

While I must say the Marauders certainly try very hard to create good games some of their games fall way short of their price tag.  While I've only been to two of their games (One set of saturday games (Price $20) and a bigger "Op" (Price $50)) Neither were really worth the total price for me.  On top of gas money (which is 30 dollars per tank) I have to pay 13 dollars for one bag of bb's for the weekend, the entry fee, car repair fees (Yup thats right, 13 bucks just about everytime I go their my car gets some pretty low tires and I have to take it to a dealer to get the holes patched... dunno why they do that).  The saturday games are a joke, for almost 70 dollars to play you get about 6 hours of "30 minutes of gameplay, 1 hr of sit and bull shit" and by the end of the day your crying to yourself.  The bigger ops are better, its at least a full day of nonstop play, but for 50 bucks back home I get 2 full days of airsofting, camping, bullshitting, food, raffle tickets, and one hell of a game.  The op I went to was fun but again 50 dollars for one day of game play is not justifiable anymore for me.  I must give credit to Mike at Marauders, he does a good job of running games and I know his heart is in the right place but even $10 dollars is too much for the saturday games and 20 too much for the OPs.  Now I have to pay extra money to get training to play on the team of competent pay ahead players when I dont need it? ? ? no way.  They do a good job of making you feel at home (The marauders themselves) but some of their players can be a little over arragant about their product (and thusly another argument from which you will be spared)

Honestly, AA games are 100000x better in my oppinion and they are almost half the price for me to play at (40 dollars for gas and bb's, and no tire repair fees!)

If you honestly have a serious hitch to go and play one saturday and there is no AA game, then maybe you could justify the price more since you live in the area, but for me its too much especially since I dont have a job per se.

I've been to one Marauders game and a ton of AA games.  Save your money, play with AA.  The Marauder game I went to wasn't bad, but I found myself leading a small fire team including a 10 year old with a clear aeg.  And the prices keep going up.

I've also heard from quite a few people that there are problems with people not calling their hits.  I heard that some games were ruined for certain people because people were cheating.  I didn't see that myself the time I was there, so I'm not saying if it's true or not.

Seriously though, come to an AA game.  The players are more mature, and it's overall more professional.  You will definately have fun.

Final questions...since these get answered pretty quick:

-can I bring my own bb's?
-mesh masks allowed?
-FPS limits for AEGs?

These'll narrow down whether I go, lol. :D

Sorry but 380fps with .25s is not even close to 400fps with .20s.   380fps with .25s is closer to 420fps with .20s.  20 fps can mean a lot.
