Motorola question now.....
« on: March 16, 2007, 11:32:08 AM »
I've been googling for two days now......

Does anyone know the pinout schematics for the little single headset plug used on Motorola's Talkabout series of radios?

All I've been able to find is on a Canadian airsoft webpage from 2003 that states:
TIP: SPKR HI, RING: MIC HI, SLEEVE: SPKR/MIC COMMON
with the PTT switch and the microphone is on the same circuit in series

Anyone have some exp. with this thing?  I don't feel like destroying one to experiment and I don't have a o'scope anyways.

? You mean like call and actually talk to a real person?  Not just get random info of questionable accuracy off of the internet?  LOL  j/k

I called Action Comm. the other day about Motorola radios but that wasn't one of the questions I had at the time.  I'll give em another call.

cajun,

You are correct about the Talkabout pinout:

Tip = speaker
Stereo ring = Mic
Sleeve = common ground

You can safely confirm this by plugging a stereo jack into your Talkabout and shorting the ring and sleeve connections and observe if the PTT light comes on.

I also have the pinouts for two-plug ICOMs if you need that too.

Thanks for the confirmation Village.  I think I have the pinouts for the Icom around here somewhere....they're easier to get.
