An SVD would be a nice addition to the guns we see at the games.  Are you thinking of converting an AK47, or putting one together from scratch?

Are you talking about the Quasi Dragunov (AK AEG with an SVD kit), or one of the G+P SVD's from DEN?

I plan on buying a TM AK47 and 1 of the svd kits.  To finish it off im probably going to upgrade it to a pdi 150 and a psg1 inner barrel.  This all depends on how long it takes me to get $650  [:)] anyone want an mp5?

EDIT: As Paco said it will be a quasi dragunov.

I'd go with a PDI-180 spring in that. I'm assuming you're going to be playing the sniper role with it, correct?

If you went with a PSG-1 barrel, you'd probably need to buy a Bore-up cylinder kit because of the additional volume needed to propel the BB out of the barrel before the piston begins to retract ("piston suck" as it is known).

A PDI 150 would probably put you right at 400 FPS with a PSG-1 barrel.  If you went with a PDI 180, you'd need to convert the gearbox to only be able to fire semi auto to comply with the regulations for sniper rifles (only semi-auto or bolt action sniper rifles are allowed above 400FPS - up to 500 FPS).

Do you really think a PDI-150 spring will put him at 400?  Most of you guys running 150's or 170's are still shy of that mark.  The PSG1 inner barrel will give him better acuracy, but it won't increase the velocity.  In fact it will cut it back if he doesn't use the bore up cylinder and a heavier spring.  Aren't you running a PDI170 spring in that new gun you built Paco?  What's it chrono at?

The longer barrel really serves to accelerate the BB...  don't ask me why, but my experience shows that it really does.  My AUG: The only upgrades it had were metal bushings, PDI 170 and an AUG 6.04 barrel.  It was shooting at about 440 FPS so I put a PDI 150 in it which dropped it to about 390 FPS.

Same thing with my SR-16...  I had put in an AUG 6.04 barrel and covered the extended portion with a supressor.  I had to put a bore up kit into it and with a PDI 170 is was in the 430 FPS range.  If I left it as is and swapped the 6.04 AUG barrel for a normal sr-16 barrel, it dropped it just under the 400 FPS mark, but wasn't as accurate so I put a PDI 150 into it, put the AUG 6.04 barrel back in and it dropped it to around 385 FPS.

Don't ask me to explain the physics behind it all, but that's my experience with it all.

Here's a list of items for your SVD, including 2 complete guns from Wargamer's site.

AC-KIT-SVD AC SVD Wood Conversion Kit for TM AK In Stock US$260.00
ASD-KT-SVDB ASGD Meda SVD Kit ( Black ) In Stock US$199.00
GD-FH-SVD Guarder SVD Flash Hider for AK47 In Stock US$40.00
GD-KT-AK03 Guarder AK SVD Conversion Kit In Stock US$348.00
OT-SC-SVD SVD Rifle Scope In Stock US$220.00
SP-AEG-SVDB SVD Dragunov AEG In Stock US$439.00
SP-AEG-SVDB-MR SVD Dragunov AEG ( Metal Receiver ) In Stock US$564.00

Of course to get the full effect you need to use a shorter magazine.

TM-AMAG-AK250 Marui AK 250 Rounds Magazine In Stock US$33.50

And an SVD scope.

OT-SC-SVD SVD Rifle Scope In Stock US$220.00

I personally have to say that the G&P model Den offers is the best one I've seen.  If you can swing the $1156 for the gun plus another $220 for the scope, and don't mind using gas, that be the one to get.

Wow, looks like you did most of the homework for me.  For right now im just working on selling my gun and buying the TM Ak47, once i get that and come up with about $400 im going to start buying kits and barrels.  My goal is to have it complete by the end of summer (August 17th i think).  Im gonna do some more searching and i'll post the kits that im going to buy and all of the extras.  Sorry to disappoint you, but i dont plan on putting out $200 for a scope.  I will most likely not even buy a scope.

Clint, let me look around my garage, I may have a scope that I'll donate to your project. I know I have one, just not sure where it is. If you ever see my garage, you'll understand why I say that. When I find it, it's yours.
