CIF...... heh-heh fellow soldiers, have you ever heard of "field loss" The Guard is great about it! write a note and say oops my bad! And if your in country you can damn near "field loss" everything but your pro-mask and weapon!
Hell since my motorcycle accident I was pulled off the gun line and am now the unit Supply Sgt on drill weekends. I write off everything I can that way my soldiers can get new gear, Gonna have ACH's for all our new guys real soon!
Oh and back to the topic, I hated ironing my cammies in the Marine Corps, when the digi's came out it was great cause no more boots to shine and no more ironing.
I've worn the BDU, the DCU and the ACU my favorite is the ACU, although I haven't wore it while depolyed. Its comfortable and doesn't require much maintince past the break in period.
I don't care about velcro pockets 'cause when we added pockets to our DCU's we had velcro pockets then too. Besides its kinda hard to be stealthy when your in a convoy of 200 trucks. like it was mentioned before I'm sure SF guys wear whatever they want, and what we the Joes have is plenty.
As far as the skill badges and all that other stuff, I never put any of my combat badges or skill badges on any of my DCU's even for coming home, I guess I never cared. you can't see skill badges through an IBA anyway.
I guess thats just the Marine in me, I wear a combat patch now but thats it, I rather not have anything pin-on
The only complant I have is the velcro name tapes, and the fact that you gotta wash them on cold inside out and dry them on very low, cause they shrink bad!
Funny story though, when the ACU's were being issued to units comming in country we thought it would be cool to trade with our replacements DCU's for ACU's 'till we noticed that ACU's meant "rookies" in "steve's" eyes and we quicly traded back.
