Molle Vest
« on: April 23, 2007, 03:48:36 PM »
Hi everyone, quick question.

I need a semi-cheap M.O.L.L.E. vest (preferably with pouches) for less then 150$

I found this: http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/ind ... ts_id=3154 but do not know whether it is reliable enough. Anyone had any experience with this vest?

If not, any other recommendations for my price range?

Thanks in advanced!

-Steven

Ganef made me an awesome modular rig for about that much.

preferably with pouches

The pouches are extra, but if you can afford the extra cash I highly recommend his gear.

Just send Ganef a PM if you're interested.

Eagle Industries makes good plate carrier w/cummerbund.  It runs about $160.  It's a little more than your price range, but it's a quality piece.

www.tacticaltailor.com

Good stuff.  I have a MAV and bib and love it.

What about the tactailor modular assualt vest? It looks pretty sturdy, and adds more rows to the top (then the one I found) which may be useful for radio pouches.

The MAV?  Like I said, I have one and love it.  Ganef made some shoulder pads for it, and even loaded down, it sits well and is comfy.

A great website I found that might help you is www.optactical.com.  Under their vest section, they have products from most of the major gear manufacturers.

Also check out www.tacticalassaultgear.com.  owning some of their stuff, I can say I'm really impressed and plan on buying more in the future.

I'd also recommend my first vest:

http://www.airsoft128.com/xcart/catalog ... 33877.html

It's cheap, not fully MOLLE compatible (the bib more or less is), but it functions really really well and is comfortable.  I'd still use for for shorter missions.

Thanks again for the information.

However, I got one more question for you. For the tacticaltailor MAV, do you use a rear plate carrier or hydration pack? If so, where'd you get them from?

Ditto.  It was the first one I ever bought and, while not very expandable, is great for just starting out.  I never had the need to add pouches until LC.  It can hold 6 M4 mags plus it has a canteen/general purpose pouch and a pistol mag/general purpose pouch.  Can't go wrong.

I use a Thermobak 3L with it, but I have an Ambush on the way because I'll need the cargo space.  I got mine from Tim W.

www.practicaltactical.com

Local guy, I picked mine up from him in person.  My Ambush is on it's way from Op Tactical for a decent price.

Now here is a question for you; what are you looking to carry?  What is your AEG, how many mags do you need, etc.  Look at what you need first, rather than buying something cool and then looking for stuff to put on.

Right now I'm carrying a CA M15A4 and KJW M9. I have 4 magazines for my AEG (soon to be 10, ordered 6 more from trinityairsoft.com <--where I bought my AEG) and 2 pistol magazines. I'd rather not dish out the cash  for something I'm not going to use, but since these things do get rather expensive, and being a 16 year-old, I'd rather spend the money now on something that I can add to later. The tactailor MAV is looking pretty nice, but I was a bit weary since I see that you can't attach the X harness with the bib. So I just was wondering what kind of hydration carrier you use (that is really important to me, living in a desert and all). Right now, I'm tied between the MAV + Bib or an HSGI Weesatch.

And two more questions.

Should I get the camo in multicam or Coyote Tan? I'm going to be airsofting in different states, and rather not have to dish out the money for multiple vests.

Also, someone offered to sell me a OD Weesatch. Now, being in the desert, I figured that OD would not work as well. Does it work?

I say, go Multicam. But if you go Multicam for camo, you will want multicam gear. if you wear marpat's, woodland, DTS, DCU etc, tan or OD gear will do fine.

For the desert, Tan works well, however a lot of the foliage here is green, so some argue that OD and green camo's work better anyway.

personally, i wear whatever the game dictates. if i sign up and theres 10 more people in tan, ill wear green, and visa versa

I own the Wee. It's one of the best on the market. If you buy that, you will not need to buy anything else.

I have a 3L hydro, radio, and utility pouch for BB's and whetever else i may need, all on my back. On the front, is a dual M4 mag pouch (for the 2 on the weapon in addition to the 8 in the rig), a gadget pouch for my tool kit and death rag, and a 3 pistol mag pouch. On the bib is an admin pouch where i keep my documents, patches, and speed loader in the mag pouch. A sling on the D ring on my shoulder, and a leatherman pouch on the strap right next to the admin pouch.

THEN theres the 8 mags that can be carried in the rig itself.

carries everything i need and more. I like it because it's about the cost of an OK CIRAS but comes with the capability to hold magazines at no extra cost.

just my $.40

Alright. Well I think I'm gunna go with the Weesatch. Now all I have to do is decide whether or not to get multicam BDU's + New Weesatch, or Tan BDU's + Used OD Weesatch :D

Again, thanks for all the help, and I hope to see you guys out on the field. (Sooner or later :D)

One final question:

Do you use fake plates in your Wee, or is it fine w/o? Because I've heard numerous things about it being unbalanced w/o them.
