Junior AA
« on: April 29, 2007, 12:35:37 AM »
This was originally PM'ed to Admin, but I have since decided that this would be a better location for it. Anyways, don't bash, If its a bad idea, it's a bad idea, I ain't going to argue. Just give constructive criticisms and suggestions/improvements.

I would definitely love to see some sort of junior AA team. We could keep it regulated and have all the AA members talk to each of the Junior AA members and actually communicate. Instead of just blaming the younger kids for all the problems (I'm not saying that you do, I'm just saying we usually do get most of the blame) we could actually talk about it, and fix the problem.

Basically what I'm saying here, is that I think AA needs to consider some sort of Minor/Junior league section. With Marauders Airsoft considering to charge huge amounts of money for an annual membership, I feel that a lot of younger players will feel left out. I realize that you guys do have a way for younger players to join [read: sponsorship] but I think that many of the younger players feel that is not enough, including me. I propose that you do away with sponsorships and introduce said Junior section. You could work it in generally the same way (still meet with parents, maybe at some kind of group meeting) the only difference is that the younger players would have a better sense of organization and responsibility. We could organize our own games (of course keeping to the same rules: notifying the proper authorities) and set up our own meetings.

I know it seems like it may end up causing more confusion and more aggravation, but if done properly, it could end up being a great addition to the AA team.

I'm also not saying you start working on this now, or even 3 months from now (unless you want to Very Happy) But I know the younger players, myself included, would be much happier with this kind of set up.

Please consider my request, and I thank you guys for even having something like this in the first place!

-Steven AKA Stryker-

P.S. If you ever did decide to do something like this, I would be more then happy to help organize it!

I don't really think it's necessary either, plenty of games are hosted by people who will allow ages of 16 and up, sometimes even lower.  It's not like minors can't attend events.

You mentioned how minors get a lot of bad rap, but from my experience that occurs almost exclusively on the boards and not at games.

I think that if you just attended games, which I don't know i you have or not, that would potentially erase the stereotypical airsofting minor profile.

Just get out there and play some games, then people will associate you with a face and hopefully a good attitude, not a forum name and an age description.

Junior AA is for the kids who get a DUI when they're driving daddy's pickup

clever

If y'all want a community of underage players, play with the marauders. or move to Tucson. there's plenty of ypungins here that play with the main community

Some airsoft communities in other states have some sort of safety course they provide for the younger players before they attend the official games.

My point is that marauders charging 3k for an annual pass, is ridiculous, and I ain't going to pay it. I'd rather start my own group.

you're 16, you're brand new to the forums, and chances are you dont have the same kind of game time that the vets here have. Go play at the marauders field for 20 bux a game every now and then. it wont cost you 3k, and you wont NEED to buy a year pass and get all the bells and whistles

but there are also games, including ones that Seanm028 and I host that allow 16 year olds to play.  AA games and marauders games are not the only ones posted on these boards.

My first game was Red Sleigh Down 1 and I had just turned 17

very true, games have specific rules if they're not official. the Marauders are very consistant. they have a game every saturday or sunday as i understand it. Rebel union also does something close to weekly

It sounds like avery good idea. I wish it would happen.

Well, since nothing really is happening in AA, I have my own junior organization for younger players. I know it's what some people call "back yard airsoft", but it's not all that bad. It can use some improvements. It's not the greatest, but it's working. It's not a serious pro thing like AA, but it's ok.

It's not really a "serious pro thing". The biggest reason younger players aren't allowed is it's a big legal problem if a minor is injured. Having it 18 and over means everyone is a legal adult and that whole issue is void.
