How to host an international espionage affair...
« on: May 01, 2007, 01:51:39 PM »
So, as a previous actor for 9 years...and an avid airsoft enthusiast - an idea came to me, whilst browsing Arnie's.  I have heard a lot about a fun role-playing dinner game, called "How to Host a Murder"...and I began thinking.

In the Phoenix area - would there be any interest for a 16-20 person evening game, based around a James Bond-style crime syndicate dinner which plays host to a massive cat and mouse espionage game?

Players would need only minimal eye-protection (not too much shooting, and no-head shots allowed).  Most players would be armed with handguns, preferably silenced (or better yet - cheapo springers).

The idea would be to deliver to each player a packet - weeks in advance, indicating his identity, be it Crime Boss, CIA operative, fame-seeking journalist, security guards etc.  The packet would contain your organisation, objectives, bonus-objectives, and other various intel, including require equipment (some of which would be hidden in the party/dinner location)

Everyone would receive a wealth of intel, with which they could create a fake identity - whilst attending this meeting/affair.  The night would ensue, a game for 3-4 hours...unless catastrophic shoot-out occurs.

It would require role-playing, and a bit of acting, and sneakiness.  No gung-ho gunfights...but perhaps finding someone coming out of the restroom would provide an opportune time to shoot them in the gut, and remove them from play - if they happen to be your target.

With fake identities...no one would truly know who they were - except the obvious, the boss and his guards...

Players would arrive...and grab a card indicating they had entered play -- when killed, or "leaving" they would replace the card.

The whole game would be run by someone like myself, and a couple referees who would help "run" the game.

So...long story short --- any remote interest in this?  18+ years old preferable.

Cheers,
Elbows

Hmmmm, it's definitely a different idea anyways.  First question would be: Where would the game be held?  Trying to find a place fitting the game style might be hard.

I concur, the location would really just end up being the nicest house possible, or even a business location if available...but sacrifices would have to be made unless someone has a resort they'd be willing to lend... :D

Probably the most original idea for a game involving the use of airsoft I have ever seen....

Yeah,

I'm a little leary about suggesting it here --- as the game would feature rather small amounts of airsoft -- in fact, truth be told, several player's whole objectives would be to accomplish a task, and leave without ever firing a shot.

I would add a lot more to this idea --- but all of that stuff I'm keeping in my head, as evil game-master tricks if this game ever takes place.

I just figured it could be fun, because it involves trickery...airsoft...and a genuine party, or dinner...who doesn't like food? Right?

I have to say this is indeed an intriguing prospect. I think the biggest issu with it would be the prroperty. In order to get the full effect, it would likely have to be played in a LARGE house. Altho, I do believe there are places like churches and whatnot that would allow the use of thier facilities for a "murder mystery dinner party." I will keep a close eye on how this develops.

sign Vince up for the guy rappelling through the window and spraying the AEG at the dinner table :O not all assassinations are clean or lack collateral damage.

No?  Okay, but it does sound like an interesting twist to the mystery dinner theme...I had a friends whose mom hosted those, not that I know much that just came to mind.

As for my interest, long drive for a shorter game, if I were closer I'd really consider hopping on though.

I would love to participate, but my age is always a restriction, so I will just contribute some stuff.  Incorporate melee kills.  Two guys bump in a hall, one drives a "knife" between the others ribs, and goes on about his way.  Poison someones soup.  Poison = tabasco or some other potent spice, or if you wanted to poison their water, use white vinegar.  I know some of this veers away from the airsoft foundation, but I am just spit-ballin'.  Shooting is good, but if you give everyone a gun, we are liable to have a Rambo on our hands.

Hmmm, I have a TMP as well.  It's still a GBB with a silencer, so technically it's like a handgun.

This sounds like a fun night.  I can't participate at the moment, but if you actually get this going, I'd be willing to participate when I get back.  If you don't, I'll gladly bring the idea back to life when I get back and make it happen.
