Fraud Prevention = PITA?
« on: June 15, 2007, 02:02:53 PM »
Ok, I have been ordering from Redwolf for years now.  I place an order there nearly every other month in various amounts.  However EVERY SINGLE *$#@!*$ ORDER from there triggers the banks "Fraud Prevention" flag which means they call my house, get no answer since I am at work and put a hold on my card.  So, I go to lunch only to have my card get declined because I made an HK purchase.

Does anybody else have this problem?  Better yet, does anybody know how to get around this?

I have asked them if they can "unflag" them or something, but they say there is nothing they can do.  I ask them why this triggers it everytime.  They say it's probably because it's in HK.  However none of the other HK retails have this problem.  It's really annoying.

Use paypal...

It doesn't matter where you order from, if it's overseas (especially Hong Kong) they're going to put a hold on your card.  I use paypal for everything overseas.

Except that to go over $500 you need a paid paypal account and if you use an echeck you have to wait for it to clear.

However, you seemed to miss that I said none of the other HK retailers trigger it.

Call your bank and tell them that you make purchases overseas occasionally, and if they don't stop inconvienencing you, you'll simply close your account.  If that doesn't get them to act, then follow through with it and find a new bank.

Yeah, that's almost a consideration at this point although other than this issue I do like my bank.

Thats odd, I have been with AZFCU for a long time.  I ordered from Redwolf about a year ago, and had no problems what so ever.  Maybe they added new fraud software or something.

It just confuses me that they can't do anything about it.  It's not that hard to add a toggle saying this retailer is approved, don't put a hold on the card.  Plus the fact that I know two other people with AZFCU who don't have that issue makes it all the stranger.

I hate to say it, but the old addage that the squeaky wheel gets the grease holds true with them.  I've had to call several times and just work my way up the ladder of management to get issues resolved in the past.  Don't let them tell you they don't have a supervisor available, they always do.  They're an ok bank for the most part, but they have some quirks.

I usualy have that problem when ordering from HK using a CC or debit card. I think I had it unflagged by the bank becuase nothing happened when I made my redwolf order last week. I would keep trying until they unflag it for you.
