Echo 1 lowers MAP price on its guns...
« on: June 22, 2007, 07:06:59 PM »
I realize most of you don't like Echo 1 guns, but here is an interesting bit of news I got in the E-mail today. Echo 1 has lowered the MAP price of it's guns.

It looks like dealers are having a hard time turning the new product line. I know that I had a hard time turning some of them.

The change is most noticible in the Echo 1 M16DMR... the origonal MAP price for the gun was $180, now it is down to $160. This means that all of the eBay retailers are now supposed to sell the guns with a $160 Buy It Now.

I think this means that consumers are starting to realize that by buying an Echo 1 gun, they are really buying a JG gun and paying somebody to put it in a blue and black box as opposed to a red and black one.

They could give them away for free, and I'd still never use one. If dealers can't sell them, then it's the greatest compliment that the airsoft community of consumers has ever gotten.  It means that people are starting to wise up.

They are not that bad. No where near as bad as people think in terms of quality or use.

The vast majority of airsofters, young and old, do not use lower end chinese guns. You will maybe see 1 or 2 Echo/JG and the rest will be CA, TM, or ICS. The people that tend to buy them are those of my age or simple collectors of weapon replicas. You still must be 18 to purchase which stops the walk in buyers. Now echo1 is just a scam, an M16 with an RIS with a jacked up price.

I have a few and only 1 has been DOA which was half my fault. I was new to airsoft.

I got the ECHO1 M14 with a ECHO1 110 spring, and it shoots pretty good for an ECHO1. The guy at the store said that ECHO1 made there M14s with CA gears. The hop-up is ok, but not great. I though it just be ok, but I like it a good deal. Not as good as TM or CA of course, but it's nice. The gun shoots 310 out of the box. I got it chronod at APD, then with the new spring it shoots 340ish. I like it a lot. My bro has the M4 Commando, and it's not that bad either. The M4 shoots around 325 stock.

Velocity doesn't equal quality.  How long will it last? What will happen if you drop it?

The same thing that would happen if you dropped your Marui SOCOM.
The problem isn't with the quality of the ECHO 1 product, it is with the handling by inexperienced players. Most of us that own some of the clone guns(I own Marui and other higher end guns also)don't leave them stock anyway. It comes down to how reliable are the Classic Army or Systema gears and other internals.

I understand why you guys don't like ECHO1 at all. It's not so great, but good. My bro dropped his M4 once, and it's ok. And like Paul D Wog said, it depend on the player. If you're a reckless player then you gun will last you six months. If you're a legit airsofter your gun could last a year or two depending on how much use. I have a CYMA Ak-47, and when I got it, it chronod at 300, and now with no upgrades/tune ups it shoot 300 still.

I think that guns made by echo 1 and other cheap guns are frowned upon, because the people who generally buy them are not interested in actual milsim play.  Additionally, if everyone agrees that CA and TM are better guns, then why would you spend all that money on a cheap one.  Just save up a little longer and get something that has value. Personally I'm not a fan of even TM because they don't come with metal bodies standard.

Yea, no I understand. I got my M14 as a second gun, it's upgraded so it's better than ECHO1 really. I like ECHO1s upgraded. Like I said, ECHO1 M14s come stock with CA gears, so that' nice. I am into playing legit, like I said, I get ECHO1s with upgrades.

Yea, I like CA better too. I want to get and CA AK-47(74), MP5, or M4/M16 like gun.

Not all of us frown upon them.
I recommend them to people who are interested in the Mil Sim aspect of our hobby all the time.
reason:
1. They are less expensive, thus allowing the person to spend more money on quality gear and such.
2. Out of the box these guns have better performance than most Maruis.
3. In reference to #1, the lower price on the gun allows money to purchase standard style mags, which is also important to the Mil Sim aspect.

No matter how you look at it our hobby is an expensive one to get the full Mil Sim feel to your gun and gear.

Metal bodies are not the be all and end all of airsoft.
I have a few of both. I like my plastic bodied giuns, because they are lighter and will generally feed well with almost any mag.
Also there are guns like the P90, and G36. These are not metal in the real world either.

Gunfighter please don't take this as a personal attack, I just quoted you because your answers are clear and intelligible.
Keep up the good work.
