Super 9 sucks.  Forever.  Dunno about the UTG.  Get the HFC USR-11.  Knock off of the VSR-10, so you can find some great internals if you are looking to upgrade after deciding if you like it or not.  It's 100 bones on Airsoft Atlanta.  I stuck some VSR-10 parts in mine, and it shoots great.

HFC USR-11, or the Kart VSR-10 clone would be your best bet, but truthfully they're all going to suck in that price range. Stick with the Tokyo Marui VSR-10 for the best results, or just buy an AEG and forget the sniper rifles until you can afford the better (higher priced) ones.

The problem with 120- snipers is that they have low FPS. One of them(VSR) is TM compatible but the upgrades are quite expensive.  Not to mention sniping in airsoft is non-existent. Remember its a 6mm plastic BB, wind kills it.

One of the guys on our team uses the UTG with a tightbore and it works pretty good, though his stealth skills are the main credit to his take down ability more so then the gun.  The KJW Carbine is a good gas gun sniper alternative if you don;t get one of the lemon ones.  I agree with the others that sniping is non existent in airsoft.  If your looking for a good gun in the 120 range try some of the ECHO 1 or AGM M14's they are decent AEG's but will not last as long as a premium name brand.

if your sure you want to be a sniper, go buy your self a cheap spring m4. THan go out to a game, sit in the bushes, and see if you like it.

If you do, go ahead and  buy the VSR10.

If not, shut up and just play with your AEG.

CA M24 Socom Sniper "Military Type"
« Reply #7 on: July 10, 2007, 01:38:46 PM »
I was wondering if you guys knew anything about the CA M24. The guys on my team back in MI, are really preasuring me to become the sniper, for the team. They say I am the sneakiest, what it really is, is that they all dont care about stealth so i just sit in a spot and wait for them to come.

But as far as the Rifle, i have heard good things and bad things, I just wanted to get your guys' opinion on its preformance, and also if any of you know, what other then a tightbore, can be put in to upgrade it.

Just forget about getting a spring one and go with an extremely long barreled AEG such as the M15, AUG, G36, SL8, SL9, M14, etc.  This way you will not have to worry constantly about being out gunned by opposing forces, but you will still have a formidable long-ranged gun.  If you're looking for something more silent, then look into the G36, SL8, SL9, and AUG as the have fiberglass/ABS plastic mixes that absorb sound better than metal bodied guns.  Classic Army Even sells the 'CA8-2' which is a completely upgraded AEG minus the piston and spring.

It's just a suggestion.  If you're set on the M24, it's a great replica.  As for upgrades, the M24 can take a new spring, spring guide, piston, or if you want to avoid hard installation, they have drop in bolts which you just trade out for your stock bolt and it either makes it more powerful, or allows the use of gas.  (Haven't seen a gas converted M24, but I've been told it's a good idea to avoid them).

if u must buy a springer rifle then just get a UTG l96 AKA the MK96 it cronoed at 415 FPS and comes with a TB barrek at 6.03mm so that would be ur best bet, that a teflon mod and remove the air nozzle assembly and go ahead and add 2 spring spacers and a smaller tight bore could push it to 485-495 easily and it will last, at most u will need a metal spring guide after that...

I have a UTG L96 and it shot 480+ out of the box.  I have upgraded it with a PDI hop up unit, a PDI muzzle brake and a 509mm tight bore barrel.  I am shooting in the 500fps range and out to 200+ feet easily hitting crouched man sized targets.  I am getting a PDI vacuum cylinder set and a spring just to flush it out and get a better air seal.

I have both an SL8 and an M16, and while a full auto weapon is not usually considered a "sniper" persay, I do get a good range out of them and use it more for a sort of "Ranged attack" if this makes sense. I would totally recomend starting with an AEG "sniper" and then, if you can move up from full auto, to semi, to semi one shot one kill, go for a high power spring rifle. This is just my opinion however, and whatever is good for you would be your best bet.  ;)
