The City of Glendale is always looking.  You should try them.  And if you use me as a reference, and you get hired, I will share my $500.00 with you. (shameless promotion).  I work for the City, and they offer a $500.00 bonus if an employee recruits someone to join the PD.  They need officers bad.

If you really want to get into PD, apply again.  And apply to several agencies, not just one.

As Doc said, if you were honorably discharged from military service, that would be a helpful addition to your resume.

Have you ruled out the Border Patrol, Arizona Army Guard, or other local government agencies?  As long as you have a good background record and are an upstanding citizen, you shouldn't have any problems securing a position with them.

There are also several local companies dealing in the military and law enforcement equipment industry.

If you have mil or cop experience, Phoenix is the place to find a job!

LEO agencies eat up prior military.. even if it was 10 years ago you should include it not only because they like it, but don't you have to present your entire life open book ?

I have been offered jobs many times simply because I was prior service.. and the job had nothing to do with military skill sets.... one hotel owner hired me over a much more qualified and experienced manager simply because I am a paratrooper and he had served in the 82nd himself!

true.  i got 5 points on the peoria and mesa PD tests due to vet status.

but just that fact alone will not get you hired by PD.  I've actually never bumped into the experience you speak of, usually its the otehr way around.  At least in SD the ARMY is looked down upon, casue its a marine/navy town.

Oh well, i've been applying to random places that look like they might be fun.  so we'll see.

i took your advice and put the army on my resume under education.

Are you familiar with the Technician and AGR programs in the Guard?

Before I deployed, I was a full-time Blackhawk Technician for 9 months.  Considering my experience (or lack thereof) at the time, the pay was good.

Technician pay, for the most part, is based on your experience in that MOS.  I'm a Longbow dude, so I had no experience as a Tango.  Pay was good, and gets MUCH better as your wage grade progresses.  Wage Grade has nothing to do with pay grade/rank for the most part.

It was the best 9-5 (actually 6-5) I've ever had, and I learned ALOT about the airframe when I wasn't flying.

If you want some more info, drop me a PM and we can talk offline.  I'm OCONUS at the time, but I have some POC's that can tell you more, depending on your MOS.

So, NG is NOT just part-time.
