I want to try ABU
« on: August 03, 2007, 04:51:02 PM »
http://www.bdu.com/

They have the new ABUs in stock and I think I want to try them out. The only thing is the sizing is throwing me off, I 'm used to medium regular and stuff like that, but the sizing for the ABUs come in sizes like 34R. Could anyone help me sort this out?

If you look at the page for BDUs or ACUs, they have the sizes in inches right next to the named ("Medium Regular") size.  Just match up your numerical size to the named size and use that to pick the right ABUs.

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not seeing it. The problem is, being used to medium regular, is that its a range, I'm not sure exactly what my chest size will be. Otherwise I'll probably have to go get measured.

Still though I liked having that range, just in case my weight starts to fluctuate (sort of like how it is doing now).

It's the blue link right next to the word SIZE when you're looking at the coats or pants.  The easiest thing to do is go based on what BDU size you are.  If you're a medium regular jacket and that fits well, then you're chest is probably 37 to 41 inches, according to the chart.  That means you'll want the ABU coat either 38R or 40R.  You just have to take an educated guess as to which of the 2 sizes, based on how your current MR sized coat fits you.

As an aside, I think ABU looks pretty cool, and I want to see how effective it might be out here.  It's a little hard to tell from pictures, but I wouldn't be very surprised if it worked well here.

I'm just going to wait until I get issued my P.O.S. ABUs at some point in the future.  IMO they look like ass and fail as a viable camo.   :(

they actually look half decent with our blue and white sewn on them..... not yet "officially" authorized of course but I had to do it

Camo..?  nope....   Not even close.

But if you drink Weed and then stare at the ABUs you will see the image of jesus christ singing along to the Dos Gringos......
