Fox News Does Harm to the Sport of Airsoft...
« on: September 22, 2007, 06:48:31 AM »
Hey guys,
Not sure if you heard, or saw, about the video Fox News did about airsoft. Basically, they did a bad misrepresentation of the sport airsoft, and now there is a petition for airsoft. To sign the petition, please go to:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/fox-news39-misrepresentation-of-airsoft and/or please write a letter to Fox News telling them the positive aspects of airsoft by sending an email to: AmericasNewsroom@foxnews.com

Thanks and have a great day!

God Bless & Best Wishes,

why is it that the US's most powerfull entities seem to work against everything that is done legally and fair?  I honestly think that the US media is on a crusade to take over the government and they are pretty damn close to doing it.  I miss the good ole days of unbiased news reports and well informed news reports.  I guess 9/11 has made the general populus of the US incredibly antigun and coming from Fox News thats very interesting.

I was informed that this news article is fairly old, roughly a month or so, I dont know I cant confirm it.  I'm sure Paintball started off with a similiar distrust but they are now mainstream maybe its a while before they back off of us.

I wouldn't call it a liberal thing, since it's Fox news, the most conservative news program on the air.  It's simply a bunch of people who didn't do their research.

Whiskey, you're right, this report's pretty old, or so I was told too.

Hey guys,
Sorry I couldn't get back on sooner but let me say a quick word.

The video/article is close to a year old, but I wanted to let the people who didn't know about it aware of it.

The point of all of this/the post: stupid people doing stupid things can endanger and/or make airsoft illegal in certain states. Also, maybe not because of your responsible actions, but by careless others, airsoft can get a bad rep, mainly when it goes on national TV. Now I'm a very big time conservative and love Fox News, but I did think they did airsoft wrong in this one. What I found out later was that because of the huge amount of responses, they did segments on the positive side of airsoft.

Also, although the vid is almost a year old, there was in incident in California this past July. Basically, from what I heard, a bunch of teens, using airsoft guns, held up an older gent. Well, they were arrested, and there you go...another bad story for airsoft.

So like I said, the point of this: know your laws, abide by them, and be responsible. I know that didn't even have to be said because all of you guys are responsible and are great guys, but I felt like it was needed.

Thanks for your time.

God Bless & Best Wishes,

A bit off topic, but...
It is illegal to skirmish on public property without obtaining proper permission (i.e. from the city, county, or whoever owns the land you are playing on).  Therefore, if you are playing legally then you should be able to prove to the police officer that you are playing with permission and it shouldn't be an issue.  If you are playing on private property, then I'm assuming you know/have permission from the owner of the property and the only way police would infringe would be if the owner called them or if you were shooting into someone else's property.

If, however, you are playing on public property without permission, like I assume you're saying, then you technically are breaking the law and police are in the right to stop you.  The best way to deal with them would be to cooperate, be polite, courteous and understanding, and follow their directions.  If you're lucky they won't arrest you.

Fox news isn't liberal, by any far stretch.  Idiots spoil this hobby, not liberals.

While guns certainly aren't the only reason, the violent crime rate and the homicide rate in England are significantly lower than they are here, and the UK has far stricter gun control.  Between 1998 and 2006, only 2 police officer were shot and killed in England and Wales.  Compare that to three in this valley alone this year.

Put the gun down, step away from it, keep your hands visible, and do exactly what he says.

Yeah I'd be worried too thanks to the recent school shooting related incidents.

I know, i cant belive those guys who've been shooting inocent policemen lately.  I remember it used to be where only one cop in the entire U.S. got shot by a registered gun, many have been shot at by unregistered guns i bet.  My biggest problem is how idiots can use guns on inocent people or even giulty people in some cases (unless the guilty should be shot in some cases), i think guns should be used for only sport and defense.
Maybe if those idiots stop disrespecting guns, things like FOX News wont bag on things like airsoft and paint ball.

That's like asking people not to breathe air.  Idiocy is part of the human condition.  It's never going to change.

And perhaps by the time you reach an age where your vote matters you will have developed some perspective of your own by life experience rather than regurgitating illogical syllogisms and meaningless banter.

Perhaps then you will also realize that "news" is nothing more than magazines selling advertising space just like any other mass media - the truth is not important - just the numbers.

Now I have to go finish cleaning my unregistered handgun.
